Just wondering; do any of you guys speak any other languages other than English?
I speak German and French to an ok extent for a foreigner - far from fluent though.
I’m learning Spanish and would class myself as about GCSE level - ok for a basic conversation but it needs to be at a slow pace!!
I also learnt Russian to a very basic, beginners level - I can order a beer, ask for directions and I know the numbers - but it taught me how to read the Cyrillic which is useful.
    You guys speak another tongue?

French, English, Spanish and Zummerset. Took Latin and Russian at school but the latter took a plunge when the teacher was discovered down the local pub at lunch time to teach himself first. Nice try teach!

P.S. Saw photos of my old school (Dr Morgans Grammar School in Bridgwater) being demolished last week and had a moment.

for 3 years I played rugby against them although in the middle of the 3 I missed all games till mid January as broke my leg in the September also used to play against the Old Morganians! Bridgwater first team ..night time match after drawing 3-3 against a strong "b" first team next 5 games were against main team! worst score was 47 … 18 .. played Minehead barbarians … also thought we had failed if any of our teams didn't score 100pts v St Andrews …

Through my working life I have been fortunate enough to work for several world leading indusrial brands, Japanese, German, Chinese, French, American & Swiss, they have enabled me to travel many times to countries to visit head offices and manufacturing plants, I have holidayed abroad quite a few times whilst my family was maturing, apart from a smattering of schoolboy French and the odd Japanese chorus ' Kampai' I speak no foreign tongue, I wish I had learned some in my younger days and my advice to any younger person now is get involved and learn some.

Hey ho I have had a fabulous life for which I'm very greatful and am extremely satisfied, Cornwall does for me now <ok>

This reminds me; the wife and I tried learning Mandarin Chinese at night school when we were going to visit our eldest a few years ago. Probably the hardest language I’ve ever attempted. Really tough - and I haven’t a hope in hell of actually reading it.

That accounts for it then, my Mother was born in Falmouth and I'm one of them, it could also account for me being a Bristol City addict. <laugh>
