I do think we have a gambling & drinking culture at the club.
It's been there since Micky Grey;s days.
    PDC was right imo.

I think as Sunderland fans we are all quick to come out "Lazy Jouro's", complete bollox, etc etc We simply don't like to think that its our club getting dragged through the mire. However, I'm sure plenty of Sunderland fans have either witnessed or heard stories similar to this. I know I have. I agree, I think PDC was right at the time, but he was not the guy to change it. I think someone like Pulis or Big Sam would whittle out these to$$ers who drag our club through the mud..but it needs to happen quick imo

SAF wouldn't have had it. Mebbe that's how we got JOS, Wes, Bardo etc. ?

I agree completly with this, gone are the days when players could have the occasional beer in a pub with the locals, more is the pity.

Starts with who the chairman has appointed, the manager IMO has the best eyes on what the players are doing week in week out.. PDC was spot on at the time but cause the players were upset they got their way.. Gus giving the fellas the wknd off speaks volumes to me..

They say there's no smoke without fire, and it may even explain some of the yo-yo performances of certain players, but until anonymous on-line posts provide names, places and times of such events I'll continue to take it with a pinch of salt.

Does a name behind an article have to prove this mate? I think we've only gained 4 points all season from losing positions, that in itself says a lot. Like you and many other blokes on this forum you've been following SAFC much longer then me but one thing I've noticed the last 2 seasons which is questionable is the desire, hunger, commitment of the players towards our club.. To me theirs only been a couple or so who give 2 ****s week in week out..

You may have misread Aussie. When I referred to names, places and times, I was talking about the footballers indiscretions, not the writer.

As for the "secret footballer", I don't like implied criticism, innuendo, smearing. If you've got something to say have the balls to own up to it by printing your name underneath your piece and standing by your article, don't cower in the shadows. I think that's cowardly.

Fair enough Blunham, I can understand your point of view but at the same time appreciate this blokes (maybe PDC?) point of view <laugh> our two biggest earners have done **** all, (aj, fletch) all bloody season... Where's the heart in these blokes playing for the jersey? Will admit I've watched a couple of games pissed but ATM it's just a bunch of spoilt brats.. Gus Poyet giving them the wknd off is a joke, yep it's even a joke to the manager ATM like they've earnt their wknd off? Seriously if I lived in Sunderland & had a season pass I'd be ****ing filthy... ATM 'most' of the players are wiping notes with their asses :headbang:

Absolutely right mate, I had a few wild nights with Gray, Summerbee etc in those days, even big Niall wasn't averse to propping up the bar in Annabels!

If there was a big issue, players would be moved on, the manager would change it, we all know AJ likes a drink, so does Catts, how often is he not worth his shirt?

The big thing is though, it's not just Sunderland, I know that Chelsea players in particular are well known for liking a piss up, and they are hardly flagging, are they?

It's sensationalist ****ing bollocks this, they are not monks, and young lads, all lads really, like a drink.

As long as there are 2 clear days before a match, then it shouldn't be an issue, especially for fit young lads with dieticians and nutritionalists.

Some daft **** who I don't believe for a second is an ex-pro with contacts, trying to add credence to a fairytale by using current affairs as a foundation.

    Knobhead.

But what you've gone on to say here is a whole different argument and it's difficult to argue with any of that (my earlier post said it may explain some of the performances?)

You'd just have to go through all my posts to see I've said pretty much the same thing for a couple of years now.
