Skysportsnews have said Utd may be preparing a cull.

I'm really looking forward to the summer not only to see a few new faces come in from abroad and the reserves, but also to see the squad trimmed in size.

    Players I can see leaving:

    Owen Hargreaves (retire)
    Paul Scholes (retire)
    Michael Owen (released)
    Tomasz Kuszczak (sold)
    Wes Brown (released)
    Gabriel Obertan (sold)
Darron Gibson (sold if we can!!!)

I agree with all. Although I'd consider putting Hargreaves on a pay as you play deal, and just letting him train with the squad in order to try and get back to fitness. He deserves one last chance, and if he fails it won't cost us anything.

I reckon Gibson would be sold to a Championship club - he's a decent player when he gets plenty of space and time on the ball, and he'd get than in the Championship. I'd replace each of the leavers with:

Owen Hargreaves - Pogba or Tunnicliffe making occassional appearances
    Paul Scholes - New ACM
Michael Owen - Diouf / Welbeck / Macheda - whichever one SAF thinks is closest to making the grade
    Tomasz Kuszczak - New keeper
Wes Brown - Ritchie De Laet
Gabriel Obertan - Ravel Morrison making occassional appearances
    Darron Gibson - Tom Cleverley

Berbatov may also leave if two of Welbeck, Diouf and Macheda are close to making the grade, or if we go for Ashley Young.

i'd like to see carrick shipped off too. he's been poor since the barca game in rome. he cant handle any sort of pressure on him (city goal at the weekend is a classic example) and for someone who's passing is supposed to be the main part of his game, it is sometimes abysmal.

with us possibly getting rid of hargreaves and gibson, and scholes retiring it is probably wishful thinking to get rid of him too, leaving us rather bare in midfield.

I think the way he spoke about sentimentality makes me think Hargreaves is a goner. Wes Brown also if we can get a decent bid.

If we do ship a few out, I hope we replace them in the main with promoted youth team players. Obviously we need to make 2 or 3 big buys (midfield and goalkeeper), but I'd like to see the squad beefed out with youngsters.

Wes Brown would be a good signing for a team like Newcastle United.
