Steve Bruce: Crunch time for Lee Cattermole by Mark Douglas, Evening Chronicle Jul 26 2011 1Share Add a comment Recommend (4) LEE CATTERMOLE is facing a make-or-break season in Sunderland colours. That is the verdict of Black Cats boss Steve Bruce as he looks forward to a full season from his skipper at full tilt. The 23-year-old has seen his Sunderland career ravaged by injuries, spending months on the sidelines with a knee injury in his first campaign and three months out with a back injury last year. Cattermole has never had a proper pre-season for the Wearsiders, thanks to a combination of knee injuries and rest following his exertions for England at the European under-21 Championships. This time around he was back a week early and has looked in good nick during the early throes of pre-season. Cattermole featured in every game out in Germany and looked sharp in the final game at Borussia Monchengladbach â despite Sunderland coming home with a goalless draw from that game. Bruce clearly rates his combative midfielder and sees him as a starter â fitness permitting. Read More http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/sunderland-afc/safc-news/
Not his performance according to chatsnoir - who was there. My jury is still out with Clattermole. At 23 he is no longer a bairn (remember how Keane was at that age?). Time to put the toys and excuses away. Could be the next Keane / Scholles. Up to him now. x
I rate Catts very highly as I have stated many, many times on these boards but every player, no matter how much of a favourite, needs to perform now or will suffer. We have competition - very good competition as well - in all places now and thats what will make us much more competitive overall as a team next season. I hope Catts responds positively and has a belting season.
Catts needs to run games the way Fellani does for Everton, win the ball, use is well. That's his role. There is no doubt he has the talent, I just hope he has a good enough football brain for the job.
I must say that last season i though Colbeck was 20 times better than Clatters, his passing ball control etc were much better, and Myler is 3 times better
well i was there aswell bobby and i thought he had a cracking game done nothing wrong at all... i said he was ****e at the bielefeld game and he was by a country mile the worst player on the field, but on saturday he was spot on had a great game...
catts has always shown glimpses of what hes about but fitness and officials hamper his game, im not saying he's a saint but refs do lok out for him. i remember 1 game at home last season he and Meyler where in the middle and Meyler put 3 tackles in inside 10mins that would have seen catts walk, about 2 mins later catts won the ball in a hard but fair tackle and was booked straight away. For me he can be the heartbeat of our team and take over the kevin ball mantle. I think Gardner will help him shine this season the two of them remind me of bally and alex rae.
Well anyone who reads my comments will know that it was Colback who won me over. Catts will start IMO but he needs to do it week in week out, if Colback gets in he will take some moving.
So much of a moron for the entirety of last season that he didn't give himself a chance to be a good player
Must have learnt his moronic tendancies from you... Now why don't you kindly f*ck off, you f*cking sack of sh*t. Lol Bart
I dont socialise with cretins .......except when I'm on the Sunderland board, so unless he uses this forum I doubt it big fella In all seriousness though Clatteremall needs to wise up because he isn't a bad player, just a chav/wannabe hard-man
Jesus, one of the resident craas is hovering again. Must be frig all happening over at Sid James for the 60th consecutive day since May final day of the season. Just how the hell would you know how he played last season? How many times did you see him play again just out of interest? Once? Twice? Shall we comment on the dirtiest footballer in the EPL in Tiote? You see, constantly obsessing about our players and commenting on them based on the Sunday Suns reports, will constantly open you up to being labelled a dick.
That's Lord Tiote to you commoner and comment on him all you want, wont change my opinion on Clatteremall and neither it should. Like I said I think he is a good player who unfortunately happens to also be braindead. Shame really but he might get some sense with age you never know.
This is a sunderland board you stupid cock end mag. Of course I post on here more than you but **** me, for a dirty craa, you're obsession with your bigger and better neighbours here on Wearside is bordering on OCD Syndrome
