How do we get fans from other teams to come on our site as they used to on 606? Most of us I think - and certainly on 606 there have been a number of people making the point - like to have some "chat" with others - it helps to mix things up and as long as it stays mainly friendly it is good - the alternative is that we are going to be a closed community but it could become just like a circle of friends and you more or less know what each other 's opinions are. There is very little controversy on here. We have recently been visited by Northolt-QPR and although Ak told him off a little it is actually not bad having someone else come here with their friendly wind ups. He has used one or two quite amusing attachments too. On 606 Roo is saying he is on a non football site and seems to like strong moderation - preventing people repeating themselves etc - I do not agree - it would suit me if I never have to moderate an article and it is almost certain that I would not unless called upon by sensible people who were genuinely offended by something. Most moderation is done by members who "chase away" posters such as hero/zero or whatever his latest incarnation is. I am sure that is how most of us want and expect it to be. Maybe we need to be pro-active and visit the sites of teams who we are soon to play and post comments on their boards to try to encourage them to respond Thoughts?
i agree with all the above. Posting on other teams' boards is probably the only way it's going to work. Perhaps when people get more familiar with the site, they'll find their way to other boards easier? It's not complicated, so a little encouragement should help. Well said Leonardo, and it seems to me your level of moderation is perfect
I agree... as I said on 606 I am worried we will shrink into an introverted group. We do need lots of members and all the range of views to survive. Presumably we can never have shared threads on these boards?
I did like that about 606. Even the posts that were complete nonsense or horrendously offensive were always good fun to read and respond to. I imagine in time this will begin to happen. It is still fairly knew to a lot of us, and I would assume a lot of other users are in the same situation (having just transferred from 606). I might go and post some insulting material on another teams forum, just for a bit of "banter". That should help...
Yorkshire, i can't see a way that we can share threads. Maybe that's something we should ask the developers about...
I think we will need to ask the site developers to add an addition section so that you can specify which team boards a new thread is added to. I'm happy to send a quick message and hopefully they won't try to bamboozle me with technical questions.
I suppose the other way of doing it is by tags. But i'm not sure how many people ever use them. Sandy, i think that's a splendid idea
Yorkshire, if you scroll down in a thread there's a box that says 'tags for this thread'...when you start a thread, you can put in key words that will help people find the thread. For example, Ak would put Coventry in the match thread as a tag, and that way Coventry fans could find it, but like i say, i doubt they'd look.
I've sent a message via 'Contact Us', asking if an additional section can be added when creating new threads so that you can pick which team boards the thread shows on. Fingers crossed they read it, understand it and action it.
Hornette_TID, it certainly would be!! Did you ever read the story about some people from America (obviously) who after watching Avatar, became clinically depressed because they couldn't become an Avatar themselves?! I imagine, soon, I will be like that. Not 606 is taking over my life!!
BBW - it's amazing how easily we get hooked, isn't it! i didn't hear that, but great story! i do wonder what it'd be like to be in The Hornet's Nest with everyone...i wonder if i'll get clinically depressed coz i can't be!
ak - hope you're reading this thread. I picked this up over on 606 'You can not. This is one question I asked but no answer, which is the response to every question I asked in not606.' If I don't get any response from my email it might be worth doing a global thread asking for this additional. Maybe that way we'll get and answer back from them.
Thanks BBW - perhaps you will get a shovel and help clear up some of the poop that comes back No Leo thats your job
I asked as soon as I joined and explained why I wanted this and I am still waiting for an answer, just like all the other questions I have asked about this site. There is a way of linking articles but the only way I found that works is ... even the FAQ page says one article for one team.
