Striker Matt Harrold is reported to be he subject of interest from League One side Crawley Town. Harrold, who was singled out for praise by Crawley boss John Gregory when the sides went head to head in the second round of the FA Cup in December, played enough games for Rovers last season to trigger a one year contract extension.

A rumour going around! Anyone think there is any truth in this?
Would you keep him or let him go?

I'd sell him if the offer was decent.

I like Harrold and had he not been injured last season, he would have scored more goals.
However, DC is rebuilding and if he wants out and it's not just his agent trying to make a buck or three, then let him go.
Not sure he's a league 1 forward TBH

I doubt there would be a fee involved. These days in the lower leagues (so I been told) the selling club lets the player leave on a free but instead there is add on clauses like for example:
Once Harrold played a certain amount of games for Crawley they will pay Rovers some money. When Harrold scores a certain amount of goals for Crawley we will get some more money. Thats what I think would happen if there is any truth to this story.

In that case keep him, could be useful for changing the light bulbs. :)

I dont think he is League 1 either, maybe for a last 10 minute sub when you're losing and you're playing route 1 football. He could be great for us at this level but if he wants to go then like you said let him go. But I think if he wanted to go, he wouldnt have activated his contract clause to get a new 1 year deal. Unless he has had a change of heart and dont like all the competition he now has!

    <laugh> Thats sizeism <laugh>

I could be wrong about no fee but I have been told these days there is not a lot of fee based deals. Just add on clauses which suits both parties. Of course players like Smith would command a fee. Thats why you sometimes hear players not being picked because if they play 1 more game then the club would owe the previous club money due to the sell on clause.

He's played in League One before for Southend and Wycombe, but didn't make a great impact. I wouldn't mind if we sold him, particularly because of his injury problems.

He's hardly played any games and is about as injury prone as they come. I'm sure our loss can be their loss too. He's absolutely great when he plays, but that has been nowhere near enough.

I wouldn't want to see him go if I'm being honest, he's at least worth a place on the bench as we don't have a lot of quality in depth and he's got to be a better option than chucking the kids in at the deep end.

The major mistake we made when we dropped down to league 2 from league 1 was we got rid of all of our league 1 talents ie. lines, Hughes etc... And clueless buckle brought in a new team of league two deadwood I still think if we kept the core of that league 1 team and added to it we would of went straight back up, but with all the emotion and hate from the relegation most of us were happy to see them go but looking back on it we would kill to have players of the quality right now.
I'm just afraid that if we ship out all of our league two quality players like Harold, parks etc... We're just repeating the same mistakes and may end up in this league for a lot longer than we would like to and end up signing a load of deadwood again.
I know some of you will look at it and say these are the current crop that got use relegated but I believe they have the quality to make us title contenders, all we need is some decent players with pace to push on.
