Few reports that Wigan have sacked Coyle.
Not really ncfc related except of course Holt and Barnett being there now!

It appears to be true enough. Am I surprised? Not really.

I think expectations were pretty high for Wigan this season despite the Europa League distraction, and they are a bit off the pace (although a game in hand). The tipping point....
Wigan lost at the DW Stadium on Sunday for the third time in a week and Coyle met Whelan afterwards for crisis talks where it was decided to end the Scot's brief reign.

While not surprised, it is a bit of a shame, as most of the teams in the top half are so inconsistent that anything can happen in the space of a couple of weeks, and the Latics could be in the play off places by Christmas.

Dave Whelan normally back his managers and isn't prone to knee jerk reactions, so it is a bit of surprise to me anyway

Can't help feeling the Europa cup commitments have something to do with their league performance. Not something I'd want us to be embroiled in without a much stronger squad.

i do keep my eye out for wigan because of holty and barnett, the europa league has been a factor and also coyle spent a relatively large chunk of dosh pre-season on new players

Barnett's got regular goals I believe. Holty got a nasty injury though and clearly isn't fit yet.

For a club trying to reign in spending and wages whilst comfortably avoiding relegation/push for the play-offs, I can't think of a better manager right now. I can't blame them for wanting to keep hold of him.

A manager that makes 4 changes and 3 of them score! And the other one chips in with an assist! turns a club that has been mismanaged for at least 5 years to pushing for a playoff spot for around 40k (minus agent fees)

I would say he is living up to the tag, Best manager in the championship by a country mile and in my opinion at least quarter of premier league.

Plus with interviews like this http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/24111/mccarthys-sympathy-for-departed-bosses you just have to laugh!

At the start of the season I had Wigan down as nailed on promotion and priobably as champions as they had put topgether a really good squad.
Good to know when it comes to football knowledge I am still on the money - <laugh>
