Well its in Sky Sports tonight so can only go one of 2 ways. The fact it will be all about Coventry as they are going back home means we won't be given much of a chance. Could be an opportunity for us to go and cause an upset.

Expected attendance tonight is around the 25,000 mark and it's expected that there will be a fair few Cov fans in amongst our lot as they couldn't sell all 32,000 tickets.

I will be missing the game because it's my old man's birthday but I will have it on record. Come on Gills!

Our biggest concern will be conceding silly goals, our last 6 away games have seen us concede 19 goals meaning us having to score 4 to win.

Do we set up for attacking football or look to defend and play on the break, Taylor seems to prefer the defensive option but as yet it has cost us dearly.

I've got no way of getting out of London in time to make it to Coventry so will have to settle for watching us on TV for the very first time in my life! Since i've been going (22 years) i've been at every game we've been on TV so watching us live on the box will be a new experience for me!

    2 ways?

    1) A Gills win, 2) A draw. Don't you give Coventry a chance of a win then GPL? ;)

Seem to remember he didn't give us an awful lot away to Brentford either last season.

I think the Coventry players will want it a bit too much and we can hurt them on the break, 2-2 for me with McGlashen getting his first for us 155/1 as a scorecast by the way.

I know this may possibly start the Crewe thread debate all over again, but tonight's match proved every reason why Cody should be dropped. I could name a number of players in my top three, but Cody would not be one of them...give me McGlashan, Dack, Hessy, Egan, Davies even played out of position but i rarely would mention Cody's appearance. Why did he not play the ball in the middle near the end, well i know why...as was said to me on twitter, he was trying to prove a point. Thought Norris and German did more in the last 5 minutes than Cody did most the game.

End of. No more Cody talk on this thread or I'm blocking it.

Interesting to watch on TV. Gormless commentators. Decent football from both sides with Gills finishing much the stronger of the two teams but little cutting edge up front. Otherwise Gills looked well organised. Overall much credit to Gills but no points. If Kedwell is out for 3 months (as is reported elsewhere) there will not be many goals and not many points either, however well organised the team might be.

    Agreed.
Coventry hardly troubled our keeper. We troubled theirs even less - despite having by far the best chances in the second half. If only we could punish other teams from our crosses in the same way that we have suffered this season !
Regarding Cody - I don't blame him for having a shot on goal near the end - he was in as good a position as anyone else in the side, and he had been starved of ANY service throughout the game. I've said before - if we don't (sometimes) play to his strengths, he might as well not be in the side. -- Norris hardly covered himself with glory when he ( & Egan ) failed to make contact with a glorious ball across the six yard box.
Very frustrating - we really should have converted some headers for at least a share of the points if not all 3.

ok...i will be more careful how i word things...

Yes, it was a decent performance last night, we certainly maintained possession for long periods especially in the second half. I felt Sky were so biased it actually was making me very annoyed. Dack never got credit when he chased a man down in the first half, Sky gave the credit more to the Coventry players break away, than to Dack.

Then Bywaters save from the looping ball. Sky initially again gave the men in Sky blue (pun intended) all the credit, until the commentators/pundits started to back track and realised what a good save it actually was.

If there was a negative it was purely in the fact that in one period we had over 70% possession but we all know that does not win you games, it requires the forward ability to put the ball in the net. If only we had Frank Nouble eh. The irony.

Strange really last season it was the defense that was the problem, i had been saying for a couple of seasons that Barrett should not even be on the pitch, let alone captain! Egan appears in the early stages to be quality, and great to see Davies back, but right back, really...erm, i need to ponder the logic in that one a bit longer.

I can see what Taylor is trying to do and it actually looks quite effective if not frustrating and damn right boring at times. So i suppose that indicates i'm turning a corner in praise rather than criticism.

McGlashan is certainly better than Weston and gets the ball into the box, this is where we come back to our attacking potential, albeit missing the workhorse of Keds. Although would the power house of made a difference, not really sure, although Coventry did seem content to sit back on their lead and we were playing more like the home side than the away team...

Maybe, Taylor is building the future but can he hold on to our future potential to achieve his aim, it's a great combo to see PT and Hessy on the touchline together and i truly hope it works better than the Maddog, which is more alien to me.

Young blood at the heart of the Gills is certainly the way forward, get them to play fluently as a team and we could prosper but we need to sort out the gaping problems, instead of relying on players like Egan to find the net instead...and i said all that without even mentioning the gaping problem for fear of getting blocked :)

Players performed Ok, but Taylor got it tactically wrong yesterday. The three Coventry CBs left huge areas on the flanks to exploit but we very rarely exposed it. McGlashen did ok but was receiving no support from Davies (why were we playing another square peg in a round hole when Fish was on the bench??), and on the other side Dickenson and Martin linked up well but that left Cody too isolated, for those who doubt Kedwell, we saw last night how he links the midfield and strikers and how poor we are without him. The introduction of Norris gave us a little more going forward but it was too little too late, which was frustrating as Coventry weren't anything special. I'll keep my thoughts on Cody to myself as Gemini is threatening to use his magic powers to quiet us :)

On the plus side I think Egan and Hause are linking well together

I was disappointed that we lost the game,as I felt we deserved a point for our second half performance. If only we had more belief, and Kedwell playing for his presence and what he gives then we may have got a result. We had a lot of the ball at times, unfortunately we couldn't score.I felt we had the better chances, and their best chance other than the goal was the long range shot that nearly caught Bywater out.We didn`t disgrace ourselves on TV,it was just a shame we never got any credit from Sky who were only interested in Coventry.

The players have a whole week to prepare for Oldham away now, hopefully we will have Loft back for next week.
