A whole lot of money spent, insane. Liverpool's new owners spent £7.5 million for each Premier League point they picked up between last October's purchase of the club and the end of last season, a leading football survey said. The FourFourTwo annual football rich list said the Fenway Sports Group owned by John Henry had paid greater than £2m more for each point than the world's richest club Manchester City had since being taken over by Abu Dhabi investors in September 2008. Liverpool's cash-strapped city rivals Everton, in contrast, spent around £48,000 per point between Bill Kenwright buying the club in 2004 and the end of last term. City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is again the richest person in English football, worth £20 billion, according to the list. Sheikh Mansour, a member of Abu Dhabi's ruling Al-Nahyan family, has invested heavily in City since the 2008 takeover and has been rewarded by seeing the team qualify for this season's Champions League and win the 2011 FA Cup. They have also made a positive start to the 2011-12 Barclays Premier League season which has put them on course to challenge Manchester United for the domestic title. Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov is now wealthier than QPR shareholder Lakshmi Mittal. Usmanov is now reported to be worth £12.4bn, with Indian steel magnate Mittal slipping to third with a fortune of £11.8bn. Chelsea's Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich sits fourth on the list, with the report stating his fortune grew by £2.9bn over the year to reach £10.3bn. Malcolm Glazer, the controversial owner of Manchester United, has reportedly increased his fortune by £110million to remain ninth on the list. Liverpool owner John W Henry, whose consortium completed their buy-out of the club just over a year ago, is the highest new entry on the list, with the American going in at 20th. England's Fabio Capello is the richest manager with a personal wealth of £38m compared to second-placed Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson with £27m. David Beckham remains the richest English player with an estate estimated at £135m Woah Becks has done well.
Just had my statement for last month and was only £50 OD before payday... This represents real progress I'll catch the buggers up yet! Wonder what Niall is worth now. Read his book after playing and didn't sound like he'd put a lot away for rainy day but guess being chairman and his horses will have sorted that out.
according to the times rich list he is worth £11m http://www.therichest.org/sports/sunday-times-sport-rich-list-2011/
I saw on FB that since Ellis Short bought the club, he has invested £300m into SAFC and that we've only won 93 points during his 3 year reign. That is £3,225,806.45p per point! Kin ell!
No wonder changes are happening... http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/fourfo...163-7-5-million-per-premier-league-point.aspx
