The problem is when Boris didn't shut down early enough he was blamed for thousands of deaths

Now if he doesn't unlock us he will be blamed for killing the economy

No government can actually win in this situation

Something else I thought of today too.

I remember people (myself included) mocking Hiag for using the term 'Pandemic fanboys'. Crazy thing is, the longer this has gone on I've realised these ****s actually ****ing exist. There's people literally begging to be placed into another lockdown ffs.

    Absolute mentalists.

I know a few to be fair. They’ve gotten used to working from home, and they never went out to pubs etc anyway.

Far too much point scoring after the event and very few suggestions during from different sides.

I honestly don't think people would adhere to another lockdown if they tried to implement one, which is why they're dragging it out now while they can.

People have sacrificed a ****ing lot over the past 15 months or so, which seems to be forgotten a lot when these conversations are had, and have now had enough and are failing to see any more justification for it.

If they push that emergency legislation beyond September then I'll really start to worry.

The mask wearing has to stop unless you feel safer wearing one

We go into Costa for a coffee, wear a mask going in, sit down take mask off to drink coffee, put the mask back on to leave and take mask off when outside

Who actually thinks this rubbish up

The mask wearing is really weird, it's become like a fashion item.
I see people, mostly younger ones, walking around the street wearing them for no apparent reason. On the other hand absolutely all of the companies i visit have the signs up stating wearing is mandatory but very few people do even in the offices and that goes back to last July at least.

Wow I never knew Portugal was so popular <laugh>

It's not perfect but the amount of freedom I have now to do what I want is a heck of a lot better than it's been for a long time.

Putting a mask on to go into a shop is a minor inconvenience but not the end of the world.

The government fcked up with Portugal but it had fck all to do with anything else being mentioned. And is it really any surprise, they've hardly been great throughout. It's probably the least tragic fck up from them all things considered. Having said that, I feel like we're now on the right path domestically and eventually travel abroad will also open up. And when it does I'll be booking my ticket, but I can wait a little longer having waited this long.

I don’t get the Portugal thing. From what I’ve read, their increase in cases has been in Lisbon and not on the Algarve where the vast majority of Brits are headed. You need a clear test to enter and another one to leave, so I don’t get how these people are posing a greater risk than those who’ve been for a pint in many areas of the Nth West at the minute tbh.

As for ‘freedom day’ the current state of play stops us doing nothing really, the last remaining restrictions are merely about capacity aren’t they? The caution as I can see it, is them waiting for clear data on whether this latest variant is leading to increased hospitalisations, particularly amongst the single or double vaccinated.

Given the mistakes made along the way, I’m not going to put the boot in for them wanting to ensure that they don’t call this wrong at the very last hurdle. Hopefully the data in the next couple of weeks shows there’s little increased risk, and it ends on the 21st, but if it needs another week or so for them to get the definitive on it, then it is what it is.

Yeah all that hardship we have had to put up with not socialising or seeing family shouldst be waisted now, so caution is needed........don't worry though any **** will be able to fly in and put us back under control with the variant of variant variants.

Looks like things have taken yet another twist, the High Court has just ruled the government acted unlawfully, the name at the forefront of it, being quoted by the media regarding this unlawful act is Michael Gove, he gave a contract worth £500k to friends of Dominic Cummings, oops...

I can't remember Cummings spilling the beans on this gift to his friends. <whistle>

I don't think the government did fck up with Portugal, it knew exactly what it was doing. UEFA moved the Champions League to Portugal, which was conveniently on the green list and conveniently removed from the list not long after the Final. Throwing all those that weren't interested in Porto for a game of footie, but wanted a holiday with their family into turmoil.

As was said by Portugese representatives, they employed staff, who took out new contracts of employment, to serve the Brits, who now aren't going. I think I'd be pretty pee'd off if I owned a business out there.

I've literally just seen that <laugh>

Gove should be sacked on the spot. Cummins has inadvertently handed the Conservative party sympathy and a larger support base.
