Anyone know any well known songs that made the charts with it's controversial lyrics and what there meanings were. One that i recently came across was from Elvis Costello for Olivers Army... The verse went; Only takes one itchy trigger, one more widow, one less white ****** The song made in the 70's i believe was an anti war song and that verse meant, quote; Referring to the Irish, as they have historically been oppressed by the English, much as black people have been oppressed in many countries. Costello is himself of Irish descent.
