I think it time Nigel had a look at some contracts and try and get some new ones to play. Yes I know with the FFP coming in we have to be careful with contracts. Apart from Beckford all of Svens signings contract runs out at the end of next season along with a few others Neil Danns, Sean St. Ledger, Kasper Schmeichel, David Nugent, Paul Konchesky, Martyn Waghorn, Wes Morgan and Lloyd Dyer contracts all run out at the end of the 2013/14 season. Its better for the club that we get some down on new deals early For me Kasper Schmeichel and David Nugent's futures should be sorted sooner rather then later. And the rest have to earn it. Nugent is on around 25K a week and I doubt we would offer the same wages so he probably wont accept a contract unless it was at the same rate. But with Kasper we need to get him on a new deal even if it means he is paid a very good wage because we will easily recoup that when we sell him. If at the end of this season Kasper wanted to go and with 12 months left on his deal we wouldnt be in the best position in the world. Nigel has already secured the future of the club with people like Liam Moore, Jeff Schlupp, Ritchie De Laet, Matty James, Danny Drinkwater, Ben Marshall and Anthony Knockaert all on long term deals
We'll wait until the end of the season - if we are in the Premiership, we'll be able to afford the wages, if not then I can see players leaving.
I'd be surprised if we get Schmeichel a new contract, I can see a fair amount of interest in him over the summer, if he's not Premier League then I don't know what is really!
