CONNOR WICKHAM will snub Sunderland in the hope of landing a move to Liverpool. The Ipswich striker, 18, is on Steve Bruce's wishlist. But £10million-rated Wickham has told close pals he does not fancy a move to Wearside and would prefer Anfield. Black Cats boss Bruce is hopeful of persuading Darron Gibson to come to Wearside although Peter Crouch, John O'Shea and Wes Brown are all stalling on decisions. IPSWICH boss Paul Jewell is poised to sign Blackburn striker Jason Roberts and released Reading defender Ivar Ingimarsson - but has given up on signing Hull midfielder Jimmy Bullard.

Ipswich have not received a single offer for teenage striker Connor Wickham, boss Paul Jewell insisted on Monday. Wickham, 18, has been linked to a number of Premier League clubs with Liverpool said to be leading the chase for the £10million-rated ace. But Jewell said: 'Everybody is talking about Connor Wickham but we have had no offers for any of our players and that includes him. Great expectations: Connor Wickham (left) is tipped for the top 'The good thing about it is that I don't have to sell anybody, unless it's an offer that we feel is right and we want it to happen or a player doesn't want to be here. 'There have been enquiries but no offers. Enquiries don't mean a thing. I could ring Barcelona and enquire about Messi but it doesn't mean I'll get him.' But Jewell accepts the situation could change in a matter of weeks and Wickham, on England duty in the European Under 21 Championship in Denmark, could still move on before the big kick-off in August.
