He should have been on the plane to Brazil instead of Lambert.

Coy enough to not put his foot in to or be a knob, but not coy enough to be boring

Seems a canny lad if a bit shy.

Interesting to see he said Gus' man management is really good. Maybe realised that Connor maybe needed the old 'arm round shoulder' treatment.

Possibly something previous managers haven't given him hence the none selections and 'last to training, first away home' statements.

I doubt that, I think he needed a kick up the arse which Poyet will have given him without the severity of PDC. After all the arm round shoulder of Bruce and MoN did nothing for the lad. From the reports of poster on here who i trust, Connor was booze guzzling arsehole. Down to earth with a reality check without making an example of him and embarrassing him is what I think has happened.

connor will turn out to be the jewel in the crown at safc and he will become an england regular if his progress remains at this level,it can only be assumed gus has the skills if recent performances are a guide

Fair enough. It was always going to be one or the other. At least we've got a manager who knows what he's doing, otherwise without Connor's goals we'd be in a division lower right now.

Agree with this, don't think he'd score this type of wonder goal though,:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Surely Wickham's 'overnight success' after seasons of failure should make people hold back on declaring Altidore useless.

    But it won't will it?

Watched a bit of Altidore and the only thing I've noticed is that he needs to learn to instinctively shoot, he won't get the time on the ball he currently wants in the EPL, ever.

Compare him with Negredo's finish to the season and they're very alike. Frustratingly in wrong positions and that's down to nerves and confidence. Negredo was hammering them in for fun when he first got there, same with Cisse at Newcastle, they're the type of strikers that given too much time on the ball they fall to pieces, overthinking their next move instead of just ****ing leathering the ball towards goal.

Altidore should work on his movement and positioning, get to know his team mates and where they'll likely put the ball, improve this aspect of his game instead of trying to be a Drogba/Lukaku-type bully, he'll never be that, despite his size. If he's not firing by Christmas next season I'd get rid, possibly on loan for 6 months and if he's still **** on loan, permanently.

I find his link up play fine, it's the lack of instinct in getting into goal scoring positions where I'm worried, he's got to start putting himself in dangerous areas. Something Connoer wasn't even doing, but then he started taking the risk and trusting that his team mates will find him then goals suddenly started coming. Trust in Gus and Jozy should come good imo.
