The lack of the usual transfer speculation and optomism from "the regulars" makes me wonder

1 Are "we" reasonably comfortable with our situation ( compared to 18 points ago) and feel that despite the players that we lack to advance further we can see the season out with the present squad

    or

2 Are "we" resigned now to the way that TP does his transfer business and that if we can achieve his permanent ambition of survival he can wait until the 11th hour 59th minute to pick up players for positions that are well covered but are "bargains" because no one else wants them

    SIS

PS Unable to stream Anfield on Saturday but despite the hitherto critcsm of TP's tacics an excellent battling performance and not much different from how Liverpool used to play away in Europe

I would prefer that T.P. ONLY buys player's i.e. midfield, full back and maybe a winger. From what he has said. I guess I'll hope we get through this season with what we have. It didn't seem as though he was "interested" in any new signings which worries me because we all of us " apart from Tony" know they are not good enough.
We hung on in there for pt but never looked like we wanted to try and win it. I think Pennant could have had the beating of Carraher but, we'll never know.

Well happy with a draw and we move onto West Brom.

Hi - never comfortable with Pulis, never was, never will be. Of course I do not know the guy personally and I am sure it does an awful lot for charity and is kind to stray dogs, hence his continual droning on about Battersea Dogs Home.

However, he is on a decent run of results, especially away from home, so I will obviously have to credit both him and the team for this.

But, I am resigned to his negativity, stubborness/bloodymindidness, generally bad attitude toward the fans, both on the pitch and in print.

It is perfectly obvious the PC will never fire the guy, so all I can do is wish Pulis a long life and hope he keeps up with his record of NEVER being relegated.

Will I enjoy the majority of the football, NOT ON YOU NELLY

  4. Well SIS. My view is that I am very happy where we are now and see us getting around 48 points at present. Well we should do without a real problem. From previous posts you will see that I remain unimpressed to the greater degree with how TP plays. Saying that, who am I to argue following a point at Anfield. What I want though is a bit more ambition. Pennant has rattled TP's cage so at most he will play at home but will be the first to be on the subs bench away. Negative IMHO. Sort out differences and move on.

Transfers. I would like to see like Potts, certainly one full back of some repute, a midfielder with pace and passing skills, and a winger to provide back up.

Above all else onwardss and upwards!!!

5 people will get us into a champions league place :

    2 x attacking fullbacks
    1 x attacking midfielder
    1 x attacking coach
    1 x attacking manager

Everything else in place for this club too succeed on a rather massive scale.

I think I fall into both catergories! All who know me are aware of my general distaste for TP, but I have to admit that I am very happy with our recent run of form/points and considering where we were, rather relaxed. In relation to transfer speculation, for me (and I think alot of fans both pro and anti TP) would rather he didnt buy anything, then add in positions that are not needed or players that offer no further advancement in the team!

We have seen as of late that Jerome seems to be unable to get a chance (personally didnt think we should have bought him) and is often played behind an unfit Fuller, Palcious is still struggling to get a run of 90 minute games (Fitness, Injury or Management), Woody now the official RB, Upson (not sure where he fits), Wilson (wasted at leftback at cost of arounf 9 million) and Delap extending his contract beyond his 38th birthday? For me (as stated above by Potts) unless we are buying proper FB's or Wing Backs and/or a creative midfielder (although I still dont think we have given our best CM pairing a run) there is no point in wasting money!

So in conclusion, very happy with where we are and if we dont waste any money. Resigned to the fact that TP is afterall TP and will not devate from Plan A (except to say that the 3 year plan has now been extended to a 10 year plan?????) and aslong as the results continue, I eat humble pie and except my fate on the sidelines!

I'm comfortable with what we have at the minute. I would like to see us sign a L/RB, but I don't think we're desperate for it, and I can't think of anyone who is any good, that wouldn't cost the earth.
I would like to see Jerome getting in more, he seems decent enough, but not seen enough to pass a real judgement.
Out of interest Smithers, who would you say our best CM pairing? Individually I think M Wilson and Wilson P are the better 2, whether they make a good pairing or not. . .
Although Wilson should be a midfielder, not LB, I'd like to see a similar player in at LB, right footed, but a decent enough left to cross in too.

On paper it would have to be (as you say) the two Wilsons! They cost a combined 15 Million plus and supposedley the most skilled CM's we have? Whether they work (as you have noted) is a different kettle of fish!

To many near misses to be comfortable, we seem to be constantly in danger of having our right back sent off.

Valid point Jowler, the RB has been an abused position. It has either had an out of position player with very little pace (sucide in this league) there, or a player that TP has very little confidence in. I feel the same about the LB, but feel that Wilson has done a solid job, even though I think he would offer us more in the middle of the park!

It shouldn't be a problem position, we have 2 perfectly good right backs in our squad.

Spot on, but as I said TP obviously doesnt have the confidence to play them there.
