I hope people don't try to make John Ruddy a scapegoat for yesterday. Some people are doing it on the PinkUn message board. Some are even blaming AN for his team selection. Crazy. No manager, not even Mourinho, can legislate for individual errors. Without that error, they would have been saying how well AN had thought it through tactically against a key opponent. And if Jerome or Johnson had taken those chances in stoppage time, no one would be talking about John Ruddy - everyone would have been talking about Simeon Jackson and that famous commentary.
Agree with this. Keepers always seem more culpable than outfield players who make mistakes. We need to remember this even when defenders make mistakes and strikers simply 'miss chances'
Isn´t it about time you stopped taking notice of what they say on the Pink´un message board - you know what you get on there, either wild hysteria or ludicrous recrimination, with very little in between.
Not about to right Ruddy off. It's just that frustrating. We definitely had the chances to rectify his mistake. Does seem like the player in front of Ruddy had a little grab at his arm but you could also say Ruddy should just be stronger there. Nothing we can do about it now and hopefully we turn Huddersfield over on Tuesday!
Ruddy was fouled, he didn't make an error! There is a Derby player holding one of his arms so he has to try and catch the cross with one hand and can't do it.
Diabolical when seen from that angle and no wonder JR feels aggrieved. So basically, we've been 'cheated' out of 2 points!!!!
Ruddy should have been stronger. Gutted we did not take all three points in a game we dominated to the point where wes was doing keepie uppies in the first half. We scored a superb goal and couleasily have won by a couple and derby could have had no complaints. Aside from the goalkeeping error I felt the defence had a number of wobbles with rustys poor control costing a booking and then giving derby one of their few breaks and bassong dithering on more than one occasion when last man back with a forward at his heels. Not impressed with either of our full backs defensively but I thought that tetty howson wes and bj dominated the midfield and that metro me led the line really well and put in a brilliant shift. Liked the sharpness of hooper off the bench and possibly had he been on a bit earlier we may have got the result we deserved. Still if we keep up that level of performance we won't have to fear much in this league.
It's a definite foul from that angle, and I feel even more sympathy for Ruddy now but I still think he could have just done that bit more to prevent the situation. Even after he should have been more aggrieved but he just sort of accepted it! Only a very small appeal is probably why the Ref didn't even question it.
Should have been stronger? If he had shrugged the Derby player off, I bet he would have gone down. What I want to know is why squad were so far forward, leaving Ruddy that exposed. That's why the video evidence is so clear.
