Has the lad found his position at left back?

    I think so mate.

My gripe with him in midfield is that he can´t find a killer pass, but positively, he rarely loses the ball, plays safe.

This suits at left back, and he is a great tackler with a good touch.

If the lads happy there, then the place is his to claim.

Completely agree, very tidy in midfield but not sure how much he offers.

So solid at the back and when going forward seems to offer a bit too.

Thought he was beaten easily once or twice I'm not so sure.

it's a funny one, as we've seen others (hi ricco) drafted in there from centre mid because needs must, and they've had good games and bad ones, but the last two he has been outstanding there, against the excellent johnson, and then stam (why did he go off, looked very threatening) and moses tonight.

he does the basics well, stays on his feet and uses the ball properly, but given he's come through as a central midfielder, will he not ultimately get frustrated there?? after the last two games it's his position to lose, so maybe we will see over the rest of the season.

    is he naturally left footed?

I would prefer us to get an actual LB.
Colback has done very well there, 10 times better than Richardson ever did.
And unlike Ricco manages to pass to a Sunderland player.

The lad is, and always has been very composed on the ball.

In defence, this is a massive asset, in midfield it´s a minimum requirement.

He´s been close to outstanding there, I can´t see any reason why we´d shift him, and if he is capable of keeping it up, it´s a few more quid in the striker pot.

Credit to the lad, and credit to MON, again, i´d not have thought to put him there, despite him being a lefty.

Great days, Chelsea away is a toughie, but then we have 3 winnable games.

Mind, the way I feel at the minute, and after Villa turned them over, who knows at Chelsea!

I would be very happy to see him play LB on a regular basis. Our left side looks very strong now and brings natural balance to the team, with McClean who is also a natural left footer playing in front of Jack.

I have to say that McClean is really impressing me with his determination and energy. I don't know if anyone else noticed McClean make a run from Wigan's half all the way back to the LB position to help Colback defend and ultimately win the ball back from I think it was Stam?

These two are already forming a great partnership down the left, so why not leave them there?
