Both Colback and Richardson have played a number of different positions this season. Colback - left back, centre midfield, left wing Richardson - left back, centre midfield, left wing and just off the front striker. IMO both have played well in all positions. But which is their best? I don't know - what do you think?
Neither are left backs imo. Emergency ones maybe but not long term. Jack is a central midfield player and a very good one at that Kieran is a left wing / 2nd forward (Sessegnon role) imo.
tbh If Jack played how he did against City every week he would be playing for England at left back. He might just be the new Micky Gray. He started out in mid field and looked the real deal there as well until he was moved to left back after the Reading game in 1996.
or was it 1997, when we got stiffed 4-0 at their place I was living down there then and had tickets in the main stand with the Reading fans. a bad day!
He isn't a left back mate and he would be in over Gardener, Vaughan and even Catts for me in the centre of our midfield. He is cooler under pressure, can retain possession and rarely gives the ball away. He is also a little terrier in the tackle and doesn't give many daft free kicks away. He is a little star in the making but in midfield, not left back.
I was at that game, at Elm Park, what a **** hole! We went on a rampage after that game if I remember right though! I agree Jack could 'do a Micky', he is a superb tackler and is comfortable bringing the ball out.
We did ending up in the play off final. I was there i was also at the Swindon game, We were living in Swindon at the time. We got tickets for one of the home stands and on the way in a local community police officer who knew us as he had dealt with a break in at our house a couple of weeks before, told us that he had heard that one or two Sunderland fans had bought tickets for the home stands! Once in it was a hot day and by lad who was 5 at the time took his coat off to reveal his new Sunderland shirt. A guy behind tapped me on the shouilder to say he had been told not to show Sunderland colurs in the home stand. When phillip sscored the whole stand went up the only swindon fan was sitting next to me, in sat which we had returned as the guy who should have been sitting their had given hisseat up as he was playing in a cup final in the local leagues that day. Fantastic day it was on the pitch with about 10.000 other Sunderland fans. The other thing I recall was that the local paper was having fits before that game at the idea of all these northerners commimg to town and getting drunk etc. However on the Monday the headline was "Invasion of the Peace Army". I felt really proud of the team and its fans that day.
Class mate. We had a few of them, remember the Tranmere game when we went up the first time under Reidy. We were walking to Prenton Park, and I just remember watching cars, limos, buses, every one full of Sunderland fans, we literally took over Birkenhead! We somehow managed to get a crate of Skol(!) in hidden is socks etc, duly shared with all around us, was a mad day, famous for the whole ground celebrating as Liam O'Brien scored a pen against us at the exact moment Man United went in front at Boro, confirming the Toon had fluffed the league. Pitch invasion at the end when te Tranmere fans joined in, all handshakes, and some toe rag lifted Reidy's mobile. Great memories!
I was there again in the home fans stand,at the time we were living in Warrington, remember the game well no Sunderland fans around me but the locals were fine good bit of crack with them as well. Its a pity you can not have that sort of crack at games these days.
It is a shame mate, I was in the home end v WBA last season, and they were sound. Mainly because we were dog ****e for 90mins like. I actually did used to like visiting the old stadiums, Bury, that was a mad place, and Luton, with the exec boxes that look like windows in a terrace street!
