being as we are a true community club, its only right we give the correct support to the ladies as well, especially as they are getting so much positive press and are definitely reacting to it on the pitch, another stomping win sees them climb to the top of tier http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/news/article/ladies-reach-league-summit-1978979.aspx? I wonder if the ladies team will get to play a match at Fratton Park this year. Having played their first ever game at FP was really good PR for a fans owned club.
For this season and next season only, the winners of the WPL South and the WPL North enter in a two-legged play off with the winner being promoted into the WSL, subject to criteria.
Pompey are no longer first btw, Brighton are but we have a game in hand. I sincerely hope Brighton don't win the league. Their manager is a disgrace.
Wow that's generous of them! What happens after that - will the bottom clubs in WSL2 have to apply for re-election like in the olden days in the Fourth Division.? Our Ladies could become the female Wimbledon or Wigan, with London Bees and Oxford Utd Ladies being Southport and Workington Town.
Not actually sure what happens after that. WSL2 teams are protected from relegation until 2018 at least and a precedent will have been set so they can't change the goalposts again. I suppose seeking election could be one way of doing it, but cronyism will likley make it hard for any WPL clubs to break through, and there would be an outrage if the bottom club got a reprieve and the WPL champion denied a space, it's no longer the 1920s after all. London Bees are a bit rubbish though. Aside from having a terrible name, including last season as Barnet, they've won two games in two seasons. Earlier on in the season, they conceded 28 goals in the space of three games. Just how is that a good advert for women's football if this is supposed to be one of the best teams in the country?
Talking of which, London Bees lost 9-1 today against Reading. If they're one of the best 16 women's football teams in the country, then I'm the Queen of Sheba Portsmouth drew away at Spurs and remain second.
He was manager of Gillingham last season and got them into 2nd. Then he left Gillingham over the summer and took most of the team with him to Brighton. As I said on the Wycombe forum, it shows an utter lack of respect and complete contempt for their previous club if they're happy to walk away and take their team with them, clearly not caring that it'll likely cause their previous club to struggle. If you want to manager your previous players so damn much, stay at your previous club ffs.
