I'll just say what I said elsewhere and have said on here before, it's not meant with any disrespect to the Chairman...

The problem as I see it with the Chairman and our Club, is that the price of football is now beyond his means. When you see other L1 clubs buying million pound transfers, it leaves us dead in the water, for me that's the reality of todays game, football has changed alot in 27 yrs.

    Scally Out .........not quite !
Over (recent)years, I admit to being more critical than complimentary of Mr. Scally - but, in my defence, I have given praise for his business acumen - when he 'saved' GFC around 27 years ago.

I will make no apology for again reminding everyone that Mr. Scally has failed to answer my requests to provide evidence that he has invested more than just £1 of his own money - whilst, at the same time living a jet-set lifestyle - on the pretext of seeking investment in the Club....I'm still waiting!

People may be correct to tell me that, as Chairman of any corporation, Mr. Scally is perfectly entitled to numeration - just like any of us getting paid to do our job... In essence, I have no problem with THAT - but - let's not forget that the wages, expenses and perks (( nice car )), he gets is from money that YOU and I ( humble fans ), fork out.

In my humble opinion ( to which I am entitled ), I believe that the questions ( in various forms ), relating to money, are the reasons for much discontent by the fans. There is historical evidence of much waste of money - especially through punishment by the High Court - not to say of the associated legal fees....and, of course, the embarrassment to all of us as the good name of GFC is besmirched in the media - followed by humiliating public apologies ((( such as the McCammon 'racism' debacle. )))

There have been (( too many )) other public relations disasters, as well as 'Human Resource' nonsenses - that have exposed a definite weakness of Mr. Scally. He has treated fans, especially season ticket holders quite badly on too many occasions - bordering on contempt for his most ( financially) loyal 'customers.' (( I know that other STH have experienced similar tales of woe as myself. ))..........
.....And this touches on a major problem that Mr. Scally has had in recent years - his inability to engage with fans ( at our level ). It would seem (to me), that he expects fans to simply allow him - and other members of his family, to take huge amounts of OUR money for doing what ??.....And, yet, I can defend him - because (( forgetting any emotional attachment to your Club for one moment )), - who, among you, would NOT do the same if you were in his position??.....

.....And, Mr. Scally doesn't want to stop taking more of our money! He has the breath-taking arrogance of saying that only he can run the football club !! Really? -BE HONEST - YOU JUST WANT THE MONEY.

I have been extremely loyal to Gillingham Football Club. I have spent many £thousands to watch hoofball...I should question my own sanity for the ridiculous waste of time and money (( but I believe that real football fans can understand my stupidity. )) I can appreciate that Mr. Scally has excuses and mitigation for the failures to attract investment - and the lack of funds for players etc, but, unfortunately for him, I have lost much sympathy because of his attitude towards decent fans - and because he expects me to not be clever enough to see that Gillingham Football Club is being run to finance him and his family.

Thank you, Mr. Scally for investing a whole £1...... Now it's time to go - you've had your £1 of flesh out of me.

Hello all I'm back! Had some account gremlins for a little while but have returned at last so I'm sure you will all be rejoicing at my return.

I think it's fair to say that the writing has been on the wall for some time that we need a fresh impetus into the business. I'm glad Mr Scally has found someone who appears to actually care about the club, whilst also having a strong business background in the sporting world. Mr Fisher was working at the club previously when we actually had money to spend on players so I would hope he now has contacts that he could perhaps persuade to pump some money into the business also.

I don't condone the abuse that Mr Scally has received. You only have to read the Facebook discussion group to see how incredibly toxic some of the things being written about him are. Whilst I do think he has put his foot in it a few times, and as @alwaysright alluded to he was often a PR disaster, I do at least believe he was doing what he thought was best for the club. Whether that actually was the best or not is something can be argued and that's where I think criticism is fair. If it is true about people have been vandalising his car and property then that is just fanaticism too far.

I hope we can see an upturn in our fortunes moving forward. Just making the matchday experience better for fans will be a start and I see the club has made the Exeter cup game only £10 a ticket which is small steps in the right direction. So Mr Fisher, you have my backing.

    Welcome back Pegleg...
As I've been tagged in your post, I feel it only polite to respond (a little .)
I have eloquently catalogued ( some of ) the complaints I have against Mr.Scally.... Some, perhaps a lot of them, are the same complaint levelled by many other fans.
The difference - with my delivery / condemnation, is based on considerable facts -- that, quite frankly, should not, or ever have existed at GFC...
The common denominator in the equation has always been the Chairman..... Sadly, Mr. Scally has, too often, dealt with situations with little wisdom - and, on many occasions, has defended the indefensible.
I believe that Mr. Scally has more limited business qualities - not necessarily making him a a bad businessman - because - football is like no other business, and has different sets of challenges.
Mr. Scally has not been humble enough to admit his limitations- without the need to defend his position in a way that is not arrogant, and insulting to ordinary fans............. and then he wonders when people react with vitriol.
Being involved in an angry exchange does nobody any good - and will always lead to morons resorting to thuggery - rather than other legal forms of sanction.....
...... And all the while, it is rarely heard of that Mr. Scally has admitted to mistakes.... He is a proud man - and there's nothing wrong with that - but, if he had been a little more honest and humble - and open to constructive criticism - without being dictatorial, fans would have had more sympathy..
Mr. Scally has kept GFC afloat (( and has rewarded himself handsomely ) - but - it really is the time for him to go.
I like the way in which Mr. Fisher vocalises - he isn't saying anything that Mr. Scally hasn't said - but - the words he chooses are not likely to antagonise sensible fans.
