Some bloke called Gavin Pretor-Pinney founded this association in 2005. He's written a book, had a BBC documentary done and has 22,000 members. What the hell's going on? Is he sitting at home pulling in the cash and wondering at just how many ****ers there are in the world? Or is onto something profound?

Nothing nicer on a summer afternoon than lying in a field staring up at the clouds and trying to make faces or shapes out of them. Unless, of course, that while you are staring at the clouds in the sky you are in receipt of a bit of Horatio followed swiftly by a 'cloud burst' all of your own.

There were some lovely clouds on the internet a week or so ago.

Just looking at them got me moist.

The public will buy any old crap if they see it advertised on TV - even more so if there's an accompanying TV series with a minor celebrity. Look out for Adrian Chiles' 'Big Book of Puddles' and Alan Carr's 'Fascinating Bus Stops' both slated for publication in the spring.

Tina's often to be found lying on her back staring at the clouds. Or the stars. Or the ceiling...
