Reina and Carra 'You really think you're Franz Beckenbauer and you're always trying to play short passes when you should just empty it.' Carra

"I responded: 'If I know one thing it's that you definitely aren't Beckenbauer, but just give me a bit of support when I've got the ball so we can try and play instead of just kicking it down the pitch"

I remember the incident but cant remember who we were against

    Also this

Reina said. "We had lost 2-1 to Besiktas and not played too well. I decided to have a beer. I don't see a problem with that because for me it is healthier to do that than it is to have a glass of Coca-Cola or a drink like that.

"Suddenly, the bartender turned up and said: 'The club doctor, medical staff and manager have made it clear to me they do not want you to have a beer.' I still don't know why this was the case but whatever the reason, I was fuming. I grabbed my bags and stormed off to my room without even having dinner. That is how upset I was.

"For me, Rafa was in the wrong. It suggests the manager does not trust you to look after yourself in the right way. He saw it differently and, if he has a small weakness as a manager, it is that he did not have a massive career as a player before he moved into management."

    Interesting

It is and no doubt all of these snippets will sell a lot of books but thats just the way of the world.

for me I'd be very disappointed someone didn't take the hea dof both of them in the dressing room for arguing to be honest. pepe might be right about the old hoofer but that doesn't excuse others from not salpping both behidn the ear and telling them to grow up.

the rafa thing shows for me at least the difference between english and spanish players.... if that had been an english player he'd have grabbed a taxi to the nearest bar and hung one on for the night in protest.

Hmm what beer was it that he wanted! The mystery continues......

After indoor training last night, I hate hate hate seeing players just "dump" "empty" "get rid" of the ball. Shows such a lack of composure on the ball and usually ends up with the other team in possession.

It depends on the circumstances and the skill of the player(s) involved. There's many a time I've watched players faffin about on the edge of their own area and I'm screaming "get rid" before they give it away.

I am not talking about the ball is in a dangerous area don't diddle on it and cost us a goal. I am talking about time on your hands and lumping it.

A time and a place for the old hoof. If we are winning 1-0 in a final or it is the last game of the season and we need the win to secure the prem, you better beleive anything in a dangerous area I am shouting getting it out! Just not all the time, a time and a place for everyting.

well lets set this one out.

    1. composure = knowing whos where and how much time you have so you can make a choice.

    2. empty it = blind unyielding belief that the stand is the safest place on the pitch.

    3. sloppiness = not knowing who's where or how much time you'll get then making the wrong decision based on bad data.

carragher is rarely sloppy, its just he's totally and unashamedly a hoofer who beleive that kicking it into the crowd gving posession up the field is better than trusting someone else to us it. carragher unfortunaely will knock it about the back once or twice but if anyone comes within 10 yards of him there only one outcome no matter how easy the sidways or back pass is to retain possession. He gives a for show performance early on in some games where you can see guys have had it drilled into them not to Lump it... he always reverts to type.

The only thing i'll say for him is he does give it to agger when he's playing but aside form that..... donkey ball.

enrique is a prime example of composure o nthe ball, he's always got time. and we've seen already a lot of occasions where he makes things look easy.
