Clarke has dismissed fears over misfiring strikers and insists that Bristol Rovers have enough firepower to get in amongst the Vanarama Conference front-runners this season. Clarke would ideally like to add one more striker-come-right-sided wide-man to his squad after adding Angelo Balanta this week, but insists that the players he currently has at his disposal will eventually start finding the net. Rovers have managed just six goals from their eight games so far - with only two of those coming from a recognised striker. Clarke said: âIt has been a problem, but we are creating a lot of chances and I believe that they will eventually come. We could have made a couple of games easier for ourselves if we could had been a bit more clinical. That is something Iâm talking about in terms of all the way through the team because we missed a few good opportunities from set-pieces against Wrexham on Tuesday night. If they go in and we go a couple of goals up in a game the players would be able to play with a bit more confidence and that would help the strikers in front of goal. I am always looking to improve in that area because the statistics donât lie, but I am confident that we have more than enough firepower in what we have at the moment. I think Adam (Cunnington) and Matty Taylor will score enough goals and we also have Ellis (Harrison) and Ryan (Brunt) to add to that mix. Weâve just signed Angelo (Balanta) and (Jamie) White is also a proven goal-scorer at this level. Jamie hasnât played as much football as he would have liked, but he will have a massive part to play for us as the season progresses. It is a squad game these days and as a manager you have to accept that some players will experience spells when they are not in the best of form.â http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...misses-fears/story-22911603-detail/story.html
If the strikers don't get the service then they will struggle to score it baffles me why for so many years this hasn't been addressed by the individual managers something DC needs to sort out.
