Right chaps i was thinking, even though were only in September, why don't we all have a Christmas get together.I now were all geographically challenged, what with the I rish boys and the Aussies, but how about getting together with whatever not606ers are in your area for a couple of beers and a chinwag about the Hoops.I was thinking personally that being in South West London whoever's in this region we could meet somewhere near the ground,eg The Conningham Arms but i am open to all suggestions. What do you all think, good idea or not, hope to hear from as many of you as possible.u superhoops.
This was tried before on the old 606 site Hammersmith but very few expressed any enthusiasm. I guess most people already have their match day routine. Having said that I would be up for it personally as with Saturday games now a rarity my pie and mash routine is in jeoardy anyway! Rather than trying to name a day it would probably be simpler just to say that so-and-so boozer was the Not 606 HQ on match days and see who shows up. You would need some form of idenitifiication though - I for one am not going round asking everyone if they come here often. Perhaps Not 606 tee shirts are in order.
hoopton dear friend, What is "Geographically Challenged" mean? Sorry I come from South London where we speak ENGLISH!! So I await with baited breath!!
Great shout Hammer but as AAAAAGH says, a tad impractical. Not just the fact that many of us are lightyears away but quite simply the typical Christmas booze-driven can't be arsed scenario that takes over. Horses for courses I say... ! Why not do what we do every day but get virtually creative? Take a leaf out of the Watford board's book and put up a sticky thread that is for all intents and purposes, a virtual pub... 'The Loft 2011'! The idea would be that The Loft 2011 would open from the minute Christmas day kicks off in the far east (Asia / ANZAC time - Christmas Eve up this way) and close at half past midnight Peru time on New Years day in honour of our friend out there. The Loft 2011 would be a thread that's more about the not606 QPR board and us as its members, and less about serious football discussion. It would be our 'Merry Christmas' and 'Happy New Year' thread with both going round the globe according to time zones like a Mexican wave! As individuals we'd be doing our own Christmas stuff in the real world and drop-in to The Loft 2011 at convenient moments every day We could let the club know what we're doing and invite people to drop-by at various points... imagine getting seasons greetings from the likes of Tony, Amit, Phil, Neil, Keith Curle and the players. AND the bloggists like David Mac, Clive Whittingham and Thisismyengland (TIME). Whilst some would want to avoid us like the plague on their down time, I'm sure it would capture the imagination of others. Be interesting to see who... Invites would assure these people don't meet with a barrage of 'work' related questions, just greetings, respect and adulation or whatever. Those members or slebs that wanted to discuss football in depth, could do so by moving over to the relevant threads - normal business in other words. I can see it now... 'no, but are you really Amit Bhatia? Prove it!' (Measures could be introduced to authenticate slebs.) Anyway, you get the general idea though... thoughts?
