Powell on Sky Sports 1 tonight at 10 pm. I am sure Vol will be sitting there with his Charlton onesie, bag of popcorn and mug of bovril. He will be talking tactics, should be interesting.
Oh wid that some power the giftie gi'e us Tae see oorselves as ithers see us, It wid frae mony a blunder free us And foolish notion. Innit!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ffwL3jjWbs i dedicate this video to those on ITTV. i'm sure they'll all be pleased that it looks like SCP is happy with the takeover (and getting a new deal going by the grin on his face). onwards and upwards!
Thanks for the video, that was great to watch. Carpet can be puled from under anyone, but sounds promising.
What did you think of CP's comments ? Tactically, he reminded me of my five year old son attempting a Rubik's cube.
It bored me rigid so I switched it off. I think there is too much talk about tactics and over complicating the game. It is basically a simple game, you pass to your team mate and get it in the onion bag. How many discussions did Brian Clough have with his players about 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. He organised and motivated his players and put the right players in there correct positions. He also had some very good players which helped. I feel with Powell that he tinkers too much, get your best players on the pitch in their correct positions.
Someone asked Bill Shankly the secret of Liverpool's success. Remember they used to pluck players from unfashionable clubs, put them in the reserves until they were ready. Shankly replied "You pass the ball to your team-mate then move up.That's it" or something similar. I don't like it when mangers try to be too clever.
This & what DP said.. Good players can play in any formation... Wasn't Les Reed touted as some tactical genius..?
A friend of mine who took his coaching badges attended coaching seminars by Uncle Les and said that when he came out of them he thought"Hang on, what have I learned? I haven't actually learned anything here!"
Switched off half way through. Very dull. CP came across as a decent intelligent guy but I know that already. I'm no better informed of his tactical views that I was from watching Charlton regularly.
