    Good morning Charlton fans,

Leicester fan in peace (feel so cheesy saying that...)

Congratulations on your double over us, just knew Kermorgant would come back to haunt us <laugh>

With our incredible form since January, the obvious rumours are surfacing with regards to Pearsons future.

If he was to go, I believe that Powell would be strongly linked with the job, for his connections to Leicester.

So was just wondering, how do you rate him? Obviously I know he took you out of League One, and you are now sitting mid-table in the Championship, but don't know much about his signings. Do you see him as the man to take you that step further next season?

I would say you had ZERO chance of getting him so don't get your hopes up mate <ok>

Nothing to do with Leicester but Charlton was always his first love :)

He will always be linked with Leicester - it's a testerment to the man that he built such a strong relationship with your club in a relatively short period of time.

As for do we rate him - well speaking for myself I think he has a brilliant future. By no means a finished article, he appears to always be able to correct his mistakes and it's rare if you see it happen again. He has long been criticsed for his substitutions (or lack of them) but in our recent run of decent form he appaears to be getting them right. He's built a team that perhaps ticks more on being a solid outfit than playing creative, exciting football. This could be in part to financial constraints however, as we were able to play some lovely football in the first part of last season, before taking the professional approach over the finishing line. Our squad has our limitations, yet he's got us sitting in 12th with 5 games to go - higher than a lot of fans thought we would be.

Would he be the right man for Leicester? Not yet. I really think you need someone who has done the job before and can handle the expectation/pressure of fans/board to deliver a top 2 finish. I'm not saying he couldn't do it, but the timing is wrong.

Chris Powell is revered by the great majority of Charlton fans. There have been a few rumblings of discontent over his non-use of substitutes and our wretched home form, but both these things have improved recently, and you couldn't really ask for much more from a rookie manager. He has created great team spirit, which was all but gone when he arrived here.

Agree with SuperC and FHB. Chris is the glue that is holding our club together in very difficult times. In that sense he is irreplaceable. It is equally true that he has shown limitations tactically and on man management (Green, Waggy) that, taken together with our home form this year would have seen most managers on their way. I am not sure that he would have survived elsewhere with this season's record - Chairmen seem to be blind to past achievements these days! Whether that is the board showing patience or whether they just have insufficient funds to sack him are moot points and the subject of rumour and debate on this and other fora. For me the shortcomings are well worth persevering with because of the gravitas of the man and, as others have said, he is getting better. He fooled most of us with his subs versus Leeds. I don't think he is ready for a job elsewhere though because I don't think the patience would apply. If he could go anywhere it would be Leicester because of the sense of belonging thing but I think you are way second in his affections list. Mind you if he doesn't get any money this summer........,,,

Indeed it is, he was only here a short while, but is very highly thought of among our fans.

Nice to hear your thoughts on him, glad he is doing well at you. I am fully aware that we are some way behind you in vying for his affections :)
He is only young still, for a manager, and of course will make mistakes. But as you said, as long as he learns from them, then you can't ask for much more than that.
I don't actually believe that he would come to us, if NP were to get the boot (for the record, I hope NP stays with us). I don't think he'd even consider coming here at this stage of his career, not with our recent track record <yikes>

I go to University in Leicester and I mix with alot of Leicester fans, I've heard all sorts, from NP going to he is the right man for the job. Then you hear who they want to replace them, I've heard Neil Lennon, wants a challenge seeing SPL is the most boring league in the world now, a 1 horse race from August. Heard fans wanting O'Neil back too, and like everyone in this forum I've told those fans who want Powell they have no chance.
