I see Chopra is back in rehab for his gambling addiction, just wanted to pass on my best wishes and fingers crossed for a speedy return. As much as I like to tease, he's one of the best finishers in the football league and I think you'll miss him while he's out. Anyway, all the best lads. OTBC PC
I think you've got the wrong end of the stick there PC because of a stab in the dark by the Mirror. The only evidence of this is that PJ referred to stuff going on at home when he was talking about Chops and Scotland both being rested against Palace - unless you know otherwise? That's not quite the same as going back into rehab for gambling...
According to Stuart Watson's (EADT reporter) twitter "boss Paul Jewell just revealed all about Michael Chopra's gambling issues. See greenun24.co.uk shortly"
but... but... this would mean that the mirror... so the mirror... have they... have they got a story right?????? i fear my head may explode!

Morning all guys, just like to past my best wishes on to chops. The only way to get through an illness like this is to admit the problem and deal with it head on. So all credit to you chops, and just remember every town fan is 100% behind you!
I was listening to John Hartson on Talk sport the other day. He was addicted to gambling & lost £1000s. Still had people chasing him for money when he was trying to overcome his cancer.
I think it seems to have been very well handled by Jewell in what he says in that statement and it appears he has the full backing of the squad. You never know this may make the team more united.
Chops isn't the first footballer to have an addiction to gambling and he wont be the last. Its been going on for years and years but now its even more serious when you imagine the sums of money these guys can earn each week just to fritter away!
JWM, you will have our friends from the north moaning that you have made a sly comment about their number 1 diving hero Grunt with the use of the word "fritter"
Every fan is 100% behind you my ass. Seriously, fawning over well paid professionals who don't give a damn about the club is not the answer. Who's paying for the re-hab?
Naxos, I think you are being very harsh. This illness is something not just suffered because he is a footballer, people from any walk of life can get dragged down by it wether you earn 15k a week or £150, its an addiction just like booze and drugs and the only way through is by supporting them not just turning your back.
as always () i will back up guru on this one. its a nasty business gambling and anyone who makes light of it really doesn't understand how serious it is. your club gambled (sorry) by signing him - it was a calculated risk and it may yet work out, but it certainly won't if your supporters and club fail to back him
