Our whole game changed for the better when Canas came off, Amat moved up and Chico took over the center back role. Chico would be my first person pencilled in every game , always plays with heart .

Totally agree. Hopefully ML will have noticed as well. We have a run of seemingly easy games coming up, so would be good to see him play. We really need the points. Only 6 points separating bottom 11 teams. Still think we'll be ok, as we should pick up at least 10 points from next 5 matches.

Always plays with heart and always ball watches <ok>

Man utds goal in the cup a classic example of a lack of focus, i like chico but he always has a crucial mistake in his game, ive yet to see him play at a consistant high level this season. conceeds soft goals, but i guess all of our defenders are doing the same :(

Always ball watches? We can all pick bad games individual players endure , but over all Chico is one of our most important players. Just my opinion though.

Statistically Chico is one of our better players (top in the opta stats for example) but he does have a rick in him and does ball watch at times. That said, so does every other defender we have. If they didn't they'd be playing in a CL team, not the Swans.

Chico's consistency is an issue, and it didn't surprise me he was on the bench for the start of the game, when he's on top form he pairs with Williams very well, but this season there have been too many poor performances from him, and I don't like one bit his rolling on the ground theatrics either!................<ok>

Before Chico got here , we were bulled beyond belief . Not so much anymore , which keeps others on the team from looking over there shoulders. That alone is important little on is countless interventions on defence. Like I say though , everyone has there opinions but Chico always makes games exciting and keeps foes on their toes

If he could cut out the Theatrics and focus a tad more, he'd be one of our best CB's, but he has been wrong footed more than once this season and cost us more than a few goals, lets hope he improves second half of the season..................<ok>

Yeah anytime a cross comes in chico watches the ball and not his marker, players lke hernandez lose him far too easily, look at the reaction from Taylor ,it tells you everything, schoolboy error and one of many from chico this season. as for picking bad games,we see the best of chico after a major mistake, its almost like he finally gets down to buisness and puts his game head on .

As for players all having a mistake in them, that is true but there is no need for alot of it, of course the odd mistake is always going to happen but the consistancy with which they happen for us is quite alarming and needs looking at, Ben Davies and Rangel are killing us with poor positional play our centre halves also go walk about magnifying the problem 10 fold , its nothing to do with being world class its to do with players sometimes shying away from responsibility and doing the hard things well when they need to ,Ash Williams is supposed to be a fcking captain but all i usually see him do is throw his arms up in the air,he bollocked Ben davies once yesterday and then almost seemed to switch off from the responsibility to either
    1. coach him through and manage the defense
    2. tell him to do his job better and retain him from running up field and losing shape against a very fast counter attack.

World class or not the art of defending is the same at all levels, good shape will ensure you have a good chance, all defenses will get done by world class players from time to time but that wasnt the case yesterday, it was sloppy defensive play and poor game management.

Ash has apparently been un happy with certain aspects of Laudrups training regime, but as far as i can see he needs to start acting like a captain on the field more than talking it off the field .

Chico is a fine player, they all are but sometimes they all need reminding of the fact its their primary job to defend ,in tight games we need this, with the likes of Bony on the field we always have a chance to sneak a goal, if we go one down its harderfor us to sneak 2 !!

Before chico we had Monk so it was always going to be an upgrade !

Caulker is a better defender than chico but chico is an all round better player, and we wernt overly bulied before chico rolled into town.

Your right about chico making things exciting..but for the wrong reasons !! i like to see exciting attackers not exciting defenders! and there in lies the problem,we have defenders that like to be showmen when all they need to do is game manage and take the correct decisions . Chico has the ability but im not sure he has hit the same concentration levels as last season :)

See, I would take Chico over Caulker everytime , maybe I am blinded by my respect for Chico but its how I feel . We needed a hard nosed cb to neutralise the bully factor against us and Caulker wasnt it . Caulker would have been in tough if he was playing for Laudrup the pasr few years imo .

Disagree here. I would take Caulker before all of our centre backs.

Well at least we can disagree and not call each other names. On a personal note , Ive been watching this forum very often and have seen it degenerate quite a bit . You stood tall through a lot adversity and have pulled theforum back to a bit of normality , well done and much respect from me valley . Its not my fault that you dontknow much about cb , s though lol

Chico for a centre half can also play a bit of football ,has good ball control and can change direction with a drop of his shoulder ,I can't really recall Caulker having the same attributes .

Idont dislike chico i think he is great but Caulker was and still is a better prospect . people forget that caulks could play a bit as well as offer a major presence in defense and attack, which brings me to another point.. our set piece play !

Ash and Chico must be the worst in the whole premier league when it comes to attacking our corners, i dont know why they even bother going up for them!!

Yes we will agree to disagree on the centre half thing, chico on his day is world class, he needs to put together 90 min displays though and he has not done that enough this season :)

Agree Chico is better with the ball at his feet, but Caulker is a better defender. Would have liked to see Caulker and Amateur together. That could be a magical partnership and if Cardiff go down, we should go in for him.

Caulker is the better defender, though Chico has the potential to offer more in games when at his best.

You mean Canas who was subbed off after all of 16 minutes, bit harsh to say it changed the game, we went on to lose ya know, and I personally thought that Canas was the difference, although Amat did well, he is not a deep lying midfielder, and we didn't have the pressure on the ball at times, which Canas tends to bring to the team, so for me, we were actually worse off for the substitution.

Amat is a good player, but not a DM by any stretch, but he is for me, our best CB. Id have preferred to give Chico the role of CM during the game against United, due to his willingness to get forward.
