best value player we have had at City for years....i look forward to witnessing his development. as soon as his distribution rises above that of Gerrad, he will be getting towards the finished article and you can forget all about the primadonna liverpool player for me. just need better cover and perhaps cooper can be that

Chester was very impressive today. If he can keep up that level of performance he looks like a very good signing

he continued on from last week and the previous one before........looks a great asset with a 'gerrard' type player along side him. somehow i think paul macshane could make him look ordinary

I think Pearson will get rid of McShane, seems he wants to get rid of pretty much anybody from the Brown era barring youngsters, dawson, barmby and to an extent ashbee (on radio he seemed as though he didnt particularly want him to go). Nige can judge a player and I dont think we'll be seeing McShane much more. He gives his all, he's just crap

i dont think it is such an issue about when they joined, i think it is more to do with what they earn.....maccer reportedly on £20k per week i believe...oh yeah and he is crap!!!

20grand a week for Mcshane, this is the sort of situation Pearson has walked into and had to deal with. How do they ship out players like that who are not going to get the same wages anywhere else? I can't see Mcshane being coached into being a better player, he's just not that good. Signing the likes of Chester is the way to go.

to me macshane is an enigma.....upteen caps for ireland.....played at a high level for years (ok without great effect)....also played well for city in his first loan spell in the prem.....but so so unreliable ever since....wierd and never worth that kind of bunce.....however i fear that if we get too many up-and-coming youths, that we may take a lot of years to get anyway near the public aspirations of our new owners

The solution with McShane is to get someone to pay him £10-15k a week and agree to make up the difference. That £10-15k would let us get 2 players in, and maybe fund the wages contribution for a loanee as well.

There's not many clubs that could afford it, but I reckon if Huddersfield get promoted this season they're a club that would do it. Last season when I went to a game and pointed out their defence was frankly appauling and lacking organisation I got a load of stick over it. This season it must be even worse because their fans are complaining about it now. If they get promoted they'll be after an experianced defender to help the kids (shhhh don't tell them he's cack for composure), they're local, and with Lee Clark as their manager there's potentially a former teammate of McShane in charge.

I feel for mcshane, I really do. He's an easy target for a number of reasons; he was signed at the time of offering silly contracts, he clearly isn't as technically gifted a full-back as even rosenior or ricketts, he has only ever intermittently played centre back (his preferred position) and let's be fair, his appearance makes him, shall we say, open to abuse(?)

Macca is limited and on far too much Nigel won't keep him.. he's been slowly but surely filling the squad with players he wants..

We are really moving in the right direction you know.. James Chester top signing. NP wants Gerrard I'm 100% sure but he won't tell us (unlike Brown) until it's a done deal or public knowledge.

Cooper is obviously a good young defender who is gaining confidence at Carlisle - poor kid's first action for our first team was Liverpool at Anfield he was really thrown in at the deep end.. but he'll be a better cover now..

You can't even imagine Nigel bringing in a Sonko these days can you and we aren't even PL! he wouldn't look twice at Sonko..

    that's the difference.
