First one gone from the prem league this season i think. Football is crazy at the top level, i can see why laudrup prefers to ply his trade in a more relaxed environment ! Everything ML said a few months ago about These types of clubs is so true! Thoughts?
I'm sad about that - given the time, I think he could have done well with them. He achieved more than they could possibly have hoped for last year - he needed time to build the team into what he wanted. He was probably undone by an imbalance in transfers (enough with the creative midfielders) when he needed to get centre forward(s) to replace Torres and a centre half to steady the ship at the back.
ridiculous. I was reading the chelsea thread about it this morning, they're all fuming. The Russian really is a full on joke.
I can't understand Guardiola's name brought into the equation for the job all the time. Why would he want a job like that? Apart from the challenge to be the one to last there, and the financial side of it, I can't see any manager wanting the job unless desperate at the moment. Guardiola has said he wants a new challenge if it's right for him, but would the Chelsea job be right for him? I really can't see it. Better for him if he takes a job working under his hero Michael Laudrup as youth development coach at Swansea. Nice fulfilling challenge for him
LOL (about youth development job). Chelsea manager job is a huge challenge, and some people are up for the challenge. There is no shortage of managers willing to take the job though. Some people thrive on that kind of pressure.
They also thrive on the massive pay out they Will Get when things go tits up! Work 1 year Get paid 2 ! Nice work if you can Get it!!
Yes very true. I think I'll try to find a hugely challenging job where I'm bound to fail but that also has a multi-million payout when I do. But I think Chelsea need to give their managers a little more time before moving them on. How can you develop a team with some many managerial changes? Although they did win the Champions League, so they must be doing something right.
i would say its a silly decision made at the wrong time, but this is chelsea, its not run by people who think prudently, its run on the whim of a russian oligarch. 2-3 weeks ago this decision would have been unimaginable, but sackings are the norm at chelsea so the players will be unaffected. most people knew he was only keeping things ticking over until they could go out and get a high profile manager like guardiola. looks like benitez is the name the media have linked with them, surely they should have waited til the end of the season to make a change, they're 3rd place with 4 points off 1st!
Chelsea represent all that's wrong in football! I'm surprised though he was not sacked sooner, maybe the Champions Leauge title gave him some space, but it was clear to me that their Russian muppet didn't want him around. Di Matteo is far better off in my view, out of it at this farce of a setup, Abramovich is just another sad face of Russia’s corrupt elite, the sooner his type are gone from our game the better...................
Baffled by the decision. I was watching Sky on Monday morning and they were saying that Abramovich wasn't happy with the way they played when they won the Champions League. Bloody hell, any other same sane supporter or owner would chop your arm off to win the Champions League even if it was a deflected goal of someones ass. Just think Abramovich has taken leave of his senses.
if you spend the kind of money he has for the club then you have every right to run the club however you want, its a hell of a lot of money to spend on a team which just defended for the entire game in both the semi final and final. benitez in, they would have known he was going for at least a week
Swamp he must have money to burn, now much compensation has he paid out in the last couple of years. Scolari, Boas, Ancelotti & De Matteo. So he must have paid out over 20m in compensation.
probably triple that never...... mourinho and his staff alone cost near £20m to get rid of, crazy figures. you cannot deny that abramovic has made chelsea the superpower they are today and without him they would have been left behind. we all knew he'd be sacked at some point, though i expected it to be at the end of the season.
Spot on Dragon - Di Matteo is a genuine class act and these classless oligarchs don't deserve to tie his boot laces. Get them out before its too late
