I understand next months magazine , being the 100th edition will feature an article naming the 100 greatest ever Chelsea players! I dont know how the rules were laid down to decide who the 100 are but I've a hunch I'm likely to have seen a fairly high percentage of the players having seen my first game in 1959. I'm going to write down who my 100 are and I'll let you know how many end up on the list! No better than that--when I've done it I'm going to post it on here!! OK?

You beat me by 9 years, 1968 for me.
Difficult job you are taking on, good luck.
My top 100 would start with...........

    1. Zola.

I've only got to No.59 so far CP and although I'm not ranking them in any order he was written down 2nd(behind Jimmy Greaves). Only another 41 to go!

It arrived this morning and makes a great read! There's only 17 on the list I've never seen and 1 (Roy Bentley) who I only saw after he left us to go to Fulham!
    Top 10 reads thus-1) Drogs 2) Lamps. 3) Franco. 4) JT. 5) Ozzie.6)Petr Cech.7) Charlie Cooke.8) Dennis Wise 9) Kerry Dixon. 10) Greavesie.

Hard to sort this top 10 IMO but I reckon Greaves for one should have a higher rank!

I am in utter shock that Torres managed to make it <doh>

I'd have replaced Mata with Essien aswell in the top 20. Can't argue with the top 5 though, I'd perhaps swap Drogs and Zola.

One day , hopefully Torres will earn a place in the top 100, but not now. I may be cynical but could his omission have brought about another "lack of confidence " problem?
I makes me cringe to see Andy Towsend's name in there as well!

I would perhaps have Bonetti in my top ten.

You've had some fine players in that club over the years, especially in the 70s.

He actually came 12th. I saw him make his debut when he was just 17 and he was spectacular. Robertson and Matthews never got back in the side again!

Notable omissions--John Mortimore, Nigel Spackman and Hernan Crespo.
