Pity about the evening standard player ratings Eliaquim Mangala: 5 A solid debut from the Frenchman, who looked strong when called upon. 5 ? Really?
Positive story for once, nice to see. Anyone hear Adrian 'I talk **** to get a reaction' Durham last night on talksport saying Frank can't possibly love Chelsea if he is helping a rival to take points off us? Class A clown. Got to be the ultimate WUM in football. Frank is a cast iron Chelsea legend. Can't wait for him to be back where he belongs in a couple of years, in whatever capacity that is.
Just his job tbf, which is ultimately to make money for talkshite through phone ins. I can't believe for a second he believes most of the tripe he spouts as some of it is just unbelivable. It was hard to watch him scoring against us, but you could see even he was gutted to score against us by his reaction after doing so. Amazing to see the reaction from our fans from when he came on the field to even after he scored. Forever a Chelsea legend, and thankfully he won't be playing against us again.
Isn't Durham just repeating what Mourinho said? Not much different to; "I feel that when a player leaves another club and plays for a direct opponent, he is not going there for a holiday, he is going there to try and beat his club - the one everyone considers the club of his heart, but not any more," Mourinho told BBC Sport.
Whilst I don't agree with what Mourinho said, he has more right to comment on it than Durham does having made him one of the best players in the history of the sport. I think it's wrong to equate Durham's comments to Mourinho's.
I think (at least I hope) Jose was basically saying that as a professional, all previous relationships have to go out the window when you cross the white line. Durham's was more akin to Lampard no longer loving the club he's played for for 13 years because he played and scored against us. It's simply not black and white like that. We all know he didn't want to be in that position but is a model professional. If anything, Frank's reputation has been enhanced by how well he dealt with Sunday.
A great article! I think we all understand the situation Frank's career turn has taken, and he handled like the true pro that he is. However, our classy support left us all with something to be proud of. Thank you all Blues who made the journey!!
And from Henry Winter, far and away the best football journalist we have; 'Chelsea fans have done this before, saluting an old friend dressed in the clothes of a foe. They lauded Didier Drogba when he returned to the Bridge with Galatasaray. They chanted the name of Gianfranco Zola when he was manager at West Ham. They praised Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink when he scored against them for Charlton Athletic in 2006. Chelsea fans don’t forget'.
