The only thing I'm predicting, at this juncture, is tears.
Tears I tell you..,, on or before 19th May. <wah>

If the contest for CL spots were a horse race, Chelsea would be ahead by a length, and Arsenal would have its nose ahead of Spurs with three furlongs to go. If you factor in strength of schedule and present strength of squad, Arsenal and Chelsea neck and neck, Spurs maybe half a length back. To say anything can happen is to put it mildly. The only good bet for me is that it will come down to the last game.

Well, the Chelsea game's on my birthday, and I suddenly know what I want for a present.

Have to factor in the handicap of Chelsea's extra games. They could labour in the gallop?

So all Spurs need to do is unseat their rider and speed off to 4th!

Extremely optimistic predictions IMO, but I guess we all predict with heart over head. I did the predictions a while ago and if memory serves me correctly I had

    Chelsea: Fulham (3), Liverpool (0), Swansea (3), Man Utd (1), Spurs (3), Villa (3), Everton (3)

    Spurs: Man City (0), Wigan (3), Southampton (3), Chelsea (0), Stoke (1), Sunderland (3)

    Arsenal: Fulham (3), Man Utd (0), QPR (1), Wigan (3), Newcastle (3)

    Chelsea: 74
    Spurs: 68
    Arsenal: 70

Given Stokes form I'd probably +2 Spurs, keep Arsenal the same and -2 Chelsea IF Benitez fields a weakened team so I expect it to look more like this

    3rd Chelsea 72
    4th Arsenal 70
    5th Spurs 70

Don't supposed you see a 15-0 thrashing against Man Utd, give us a chance on the GD? Losing out on GD would be the worst possible outcome. I'd rather lose by 5 points. On your predictions, we only need a point at Stamford Bridge to come 3rd

All ifs and buts but your prediction is based on the premise you'll take 4 points from City and Chelsea which is a tough ask, you are basically saying if we beat Fulham tonight and you fail to beat City then you won't finish top 4. I've allowed margin for error so 1 point from Liverpool away and United away which I think is fairly realistic (if anything modest).

All ifs and buts but fingers crossed we win tonight <ok>

I would lay a fortune that neither us are going to get it spot on, just a bit of fun. Sadly the likeliest scenario is us losing to City, Chelsea and Wigan and so probably well adrift by the last couple of games. But hope springs eternal. Forgive me if my fingers are crossed for Fulham tonight.

Not sure really. The form of all three sides suggests there will be plenty of twists and turns, Arsenal have looked poor in their last 3 league outings and are starting to run out of steam, Chelsea look brilliant one week and poor the next, Spurs go on long runs, be it winning or losing, very much a confidence side.

Sort of my point about Everton becoming a non-factor. If it really is a three horse race, you can finish second by collapsing less spectacularly than one of the two others. Chelsea or Arsenal could throw a shoe, lose their rider (with or without help) trip, fall or stumble, decide to jump the fence, or just run out of oats.

Yeah, this is where the analogy breaks down. Somehow Chelsea is ahead, but they have more ground to cover...which would mean they aren't really ahead...it would be sort of like they're ahead but have got a bumpy patch in front of them...I'm fumbling here...

Its a handicap race for them, where the handicap is distance. They are ahead, but have more ground to cover before the end.

    Pushing it i know
