I see Tony Pulis is likely to be on his way. Only Fat Sam to go and we will be free of the Wimbledon School of Football. Over the last 25 years pitches have become like bowling greens and footballs lighter. Changes in the rules to offside and passing back to the goalkeeper have respectively stretched the game and ensured that defenders have to be ball players and not just hoofers.

Hopefully he'll receive a Knighthood for services to football for making the decision to retire.

I swear half the people on here never go on the Beefy's Corner thread because people keep posting stuff that's been on there for hours!

Oh no, we'll have to replay Sunday's game again so that Saints fans can give him a standing ovation goodbye due to him doing as much for Saints as Owen did.

We don't know that Stoke will abandon that style of football now. I presume they'll still largely have the same coaching team, and they still have a group of players who are used to playing a certain way. They'll probably still play the deep back line, a standing-off style and two defensive midfielders. They'll probably still focus on counter attacks and getting the ball up to Crouch. I can't see them changing that much next season.

Say what you like about him, I think it's a bad call by Stoke. I'll be having a sneaky wager on a Stoke relegation next year.

Their players are average, but their style of football is effective. If they didn't start their holidays before the end of the season, then they'd quite easily get top half season after season.

Pulis is a bit like Redknapp, he only focuses on the first team and apparently Stoke's youth set up is a long way behind other Prem clubs despite being established in this division a while now.

I think £5 on Stoke to get relegated next season.
If a new manager comes in and tries to get get that lot of cloggers to play proper football without a big spending spree then I am sure it will be goodnight to them this time next year

How much did the indiscipline of the players influence his departure I wonder?

I couldn't believe it when they played us in the last game of the season and just sat back, always had at least 8 players behind the ball. They were safe from relegation so was suprised they didn't actually try to attack and take more risks in trying to win the last game of the season.

In terms of net spend, whilst at Stoke he's spent roughly £80m, this is £120m more than Arsenal since Pulis took over, so are the fans right to be expecting more than just surviving each season?

Great point, I was pissed off how negative stoke were. It was the last game of the season and both teams were safe and the crowd wanted to be entertained, but instead Stoke got players behind the ball and played for a point.
I'm sure those stoke fans are pleased they may not have to suffer these tactics anymore.

I used to quite like Pulis, having taken a side like Stoke and established them as a PL team, but the way he behaved and his team Sunday just threw all that respect out the window.

Pulis has a good track record.Europe took its toll on Stoke & it will be a tough job for a new manager. Would be ironic to see Martinez take the job!

Apart from Wenger, only Fat Sam and Martin Jol been a manager for longer than a year and they've only been two. MP'll one of the longest serving premiership managers soon!!

Wouldn't surprise me to be fair, can frequently expand by up to 10 pages a day, frequently with things people don't find interesting, some people may just steer clear.

It's funny how everyone says Stoke are ****e and can't play football and how they hate Pulis, yet now he is gone we are going down. I think opposition fans had more respect for Pulis than I thought.
Now he has gone the better players we have will get to play and his favourites will be left out. I expect to see Stoke in the top 6 next season so don't waste your money on us going down just yet!

PS the girls that flashed their boobs at us away fans when you equalised on Sunday didn't half brighten the day up!

    Well said Waddo
Whilst I would indeed have been totally hissed of us defending all game last Sunday.. To the Saints fans who think we are doomed next season. Just Ask Paddy Power for the odds... <laugh> Not a chance in hell we will go down, as Waddo say's Pulis just didn't play our (Better player's) a new Manager will do that.
