The FA have sat idly by as they always do. Sadly they are not the organisation they should be. There are various reasons for that.

For once the FA have acted as they should have done. Unless there is something in the FA's Rules stating that a player who has been found Guilty of Rape can't play again then they could be iiable for a massive claim because Restriction of Trade is, on the whole, a massive civil offence.

This is why we have laws which specifically state what a convicted sex offender must and must not do after release.

This, thankfully, is well outside of the FA's bailiwick and they've done the right thing by not getting involved.

My personal thoughts on the matter are:
    1. That the bloke is a complete scumbag
    2. I wouldn't be happy to have him at my club
    3. That he shouldn't be stopped from playing football from the date of his release by anyone other than the judiciary
    4. If he turned up at StJP then (2) would still apply though I wouldn't actively protest against him coming.

Interesting thoughts, repeated the internet over with both sides of the debate.

Personal experience, I have dated two girls who were abused as kids (no, I don't hang out around rape crisis centres!!!! I just have a homing beacon seemingly). I know the long-term psychological damage sexual abuse does to somebody, and considering the immense pain I felt being told about it, I must say it's quite incomprehensible to even imagine experiencing it. While a neutral observer will note the difference in cases, one of predatory *****philia vs predatory sex, without an in-depth knowledge of the court proceedings, nobody here can correctly assert the impact this incident had on the victim, and whether the sentence Ched was issued was too lenient or not, or whether he was in fact innocent.

I notice a lot of comments regarding the case which involve sexism have not been from the point of view of the woman, which must be accounted for somewhere, as often our culturally defined sub-conscious reaction can be quite violently one way or the other, and frequently, in fact, the women are the assumed devilish party. "She was asking for it", "She's just a money grabber", "Slut" etc portray a typical response to cases such as these. Obviously, she cannot be a money grabber, as she has remained entirely anonymous, which one must put at least alongside the fact Ched has "maintained innocence throughout". Malicious intent to damage a career it certainly is not.

I do believe that there is a very worthwhile point to be made about the positive-discrimination currently ruling this country, an effort to redress a balance of centuries in a short space of time/social revolution has resulted in some poorly conceived appeasements, and white males have been disadvantaged (though I certainly am happy to be born in a century where I'm at least generally unlikely to ****e myself to death at 20). However, the particular law in question has been devised in current form for the simple known truth that women are more frequently raped than men, and THAT is why they require the added protection of this addition of "too drunk to consent". Of course, men too can bring about criminal proceedings in the same manner, but by and large it will normally be the case that the woman will be the prosecution witness. I'm pleased that the law of our country dictates the future of the humankind depends less on the sexual subjugation and rape of women.

Yet the case of whether he should be allowed to play football professionally again is also directed by law. The fact is, he should be allowed. Whether convicted wrongly or not, whether his sentence was too short or not, is not the issue. Our laws are lenient, idealistic, and exceptionally naive, and, even with my stated experience, I applaud that. Giving someone a short stint in prison for a heinous crime, then letting them free in the hope they've been rehabilitated and will not make the same error again, even when statistically that's about as sane as the Venky's , is both stupid and ridiculously admirable. It shows the innate good that lawmakers want to promote in society! I'm not saying that's right, but that's my personal view. So when I see a media-led mob (and that's exactly what is happening), which is intent on imposing medieval, draconian punishments after the original sentence has been served (and themselves breaking laws left, right and ****ing centre by the way), I'm not stirred into action to deride some thicky footballer for a horrible crime in which I have empathy for any victim, I'm drawn to the sheep-mentality of the public.

I had a season ticket when Joey Barton signed for the club. Very quickly, in fact the second or third game, fans around me were chanting his name, and making pretty vulgar comments about what he'd do to the opposition. I kept silent. I didn't want him at the club, his rap-sheet is horrific and that's not something I was representing a football team I love. A year later and I was perhaps his biggest fan. Before my eyes I'd seen transform from aggressive, psychotic waster, to someone who lead by example and genuinely seemed to embody rehabilitation. That opened my eyes about the process.

Personally, I wouldn't go to Newcastle games if he signed for Newcastle. I don't go anyway because Mike Ashley's a prick like <laugh>, but if I was attending, that would stop. I don't expect people to support him. What I do expect is that he be allowed to sign for a club, should the club be willing to tackle the ramifications. It's quite honestly disgusting that the BBC and Sky etc can basically report on Ched Evans' movements 24/7 and stoke up the nearest lynch-mob to chase him out of employment wherever he happens to go that day.

I will add that if, in the perhaps unlikely event the investigation into his conviction reveals the original hearing and appeal were wrongly adjudicated, it'd be very interesting to see what happens! Do the media have to pay remuneration for costing Evans employment? Do they have to apologise for branding him a rapist every day since his release (with lax use of the term "convicted", this could be adjudged slander perhaps)? Do all these fans frothing at the mouth and posting remarks on twitter, that would lead to arrest in normal circumstances, apologise too? It would be a sight to see, although without the full facts of the case to ponder, I put my faith in the conviction.

There are a lot of question around this case and whether the conviction is safe, there are also some serious issues with the victim and her honesty in this case which I think will be presented on this latest appeal and review, I would very much doubt if this verdict is found safe, and it is of concern that the victim has form for making a false accusation of rape previously, also the fact that she had bragged on Twitter that she had hit it big time for a payout, something she latter denied after deleting the tweets.

The fact that she thought by deleting these tweets, made her safe was undone by an american hacker who hacked into Googles search Cache, and indeed found the tweets she had denied making, this of course goes to the heart of the case and what the so-called victim is actually about. There are other issues as well which do not put this victim in very good light, in short I do not think this conviction is safe.

Did he actually rape her? just because he was found guilty is no proof whatsoever, and it can be so easy for a jury to get it badly wrong, and there are serious flaws in this case in my view. Do I think he's a rapist? I really cannot say, but what I can say is that there is sufficient doubt to question this verdict, and there will be evidence presented that was not presented at the first trial.

Why is Ched Evans being Hounded by a Twitter mob? Well it's because of a campaign driven by one nasty piece of womanhood by the name of
Jean Hatchet. A deranged feminist on a mission, a real man hater if there ever was one. The sooner this case is reviewed the better for all concerned.

    S'mai DragonPhillJack*

There's two angles to this; the overall situation and the Ched Evans case.

There are doubts put forward about the Evans case but that's all heresay via the media. The other question is about the process as a whole which gives one sentence and, yet, the mob gives another.

(*I say that as I guess you're from Abertawe.)

Yes indeed, and just hurting from getting smashed by Chelsea today, it was not a good idea for our Rookie manager to experiment with a new 4-4-2 formation either.............:emoticon-0130-devil

    This^^^^^^^^^

I am not saying Evans did or didn't rape the woman but the evidence against him is pretty flimsy to say the least
