Ched Evans (pro footballer/convicted rapist) is to be realeased from jail this autumn and its looking quite likely he will return to Sheff UTD upon his release.
Whats your views guys?...is it, A.He has a right to continue his employment as he has served his time or B.As a role model like all pro footballers would you really want your kids cheering and putting posters of convicted rapists up in their bedrooms?.

Theres a petition online with 60,000plus signatures trying to stop him from ever playing again(which i will glady sign when i find it).

Why shouldn't he go back to his old job?

As dodgy a conviction as you will see anyway, read his campaign

The thought of kids cheering for a possible rapist is just plain wrong.

Of course, we will never know the truth. Though it is likely he was innocent.

But if he wasn't... my first comment.

Dodgy conviction that would 9 times out of 10 been thrown out of court, the fact that he is a footballer is why he is in jail

It was a dodgy case, the bird offered to drop it for £15k, but he decided to fight it.

There's little point in the current justice system if rehabilitated criminals are prevented from making a living upon their release.

If you read up on the case its astonishing he was ever convicted in the first place.

He's been punished for his crime.

If a couple of years being banged up has changed his character then he should be allowed to earn a living, even if it's in a high profile profession.

Otherwise what's the point of the justice system ?

She'd also made an other rape allegation a few years prior.

People see convicted rapist and instantly think scum of the earth without actually looking at the case.

Famous people either get of lightly or get absolutely hammered.

Doesn't he have appeal coming up?

I don't think anyone that has read the facts believes he should have been convicted.

He's actually had a lot of support from genuine rape victims as they feel these sort of cases seriously undermine what they have been through.

for this reason alone it should have been thrown out - it sadly brings rape claims into disrepute as they are hard enough to prove as it is .

Dodgy case indeed, a bogus accusation if I ever saw one. The jury for that case made a massive mistake. This is a real slap in the face for genuine rape victims who have suffered so much, the woman who made these 'rape' allegations should be ashamed of herself.

Dodgy as it maybe, still a fact he `guess the rest` a bird whilst she had passed out through a cocktail of drink and drugs. No one in their right mind would do it as its no different to date rape in my view. The victim has had to change her identity and relocate completely..and thats prob due to the fact he could afford very expensive lawyers to run her name through the muck to make their client seem innocent...didnt work though did it..was still convicted by a jury of 12 as guilty.

Sadly I don't have your faith in an average UK jury's ability to reach the right decision in a complex case. When I did jury duty it was a real eye-opener (in a scary way).

I did Law during my first year at college and we studied the role and responsibilities of the jury. A staggering percentage of jurors haven't got a clue when it comes to legal proceedings. Unanimous verdicts don't mean a lot really considering the majority of jurors are completely oblivious to the case.
