Exactly right ER - Lightning Seeds were fine. It's hardfor bands form liverpool now as they're forever coated with the stigma left by the beatles.

Saw em at Knebworth in 79. Thought they blew Led Zep off the stage, to be honest. Not as good as Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen though. Come to think of it, "Two Double Cheeseburgers, Side Plate Of Fries" is like a yank Chas n Dave number.

Loved the doc on BBC4, btw. I forgive the loveable cockney larikins for a) being spurs fans, and b) being a ****ing embarrassment.

They were always part of the Cockney Mafia - nothing's changed, that Spiv ****er Jools Holland and that unimaginable ****, Suggs, really do piss me off. <grr>

Alan Pardew is from London... so all's forgiven... for now.

    "Snooker Loopy"? <doh>

Is that just because they're fellow "Blues Brothers?"

    I thought only Suggs was.

Being from North London, I'd assumed the rest were Gooners/Yids

Not sure, but I had a pint with Carl from Madness a few years ago in London. Not even sure if Suggs is a Rangers man anyway, he drinks in the Dublin Castle in Camden, what self respecting Rangers man would drink in such a named boozer?

Dublin Castle was the seat of British rule in Ireland, so maybe it is apt.

I think he meant Blues Brothers as in the speshul relationship between Chelsea, Rangers (RIP) and Linfield.

He does drink in a lot of Irish pubs in North London though. A mate who is incredibly stupid but very kind hearted phoned me up "You ain't never gonna guess who is drinking in the Fiddlers.....Some geezer called Slugs"

Chas and Dave wrote 'Snooker Loopy' ... I didn't have anything to do with the song 'Fog on the Tyne', so best you start a thread about Lindisfarne. <ok>

    I think that's clear enough.

I really loved Madness and bought many of their records... that doesn't change the fact that Suggs simply cannot 'cut it' anymore as a performing artist, should stop releasing anymore *'ave a banana'* style music and jolly well 'Shut Up'. <cool>

"In Camden Town" was a good tune. Bought it for my mum, who's from...you can probably guess. Suggs, btw, is from Finchley. Ordinary working people got priced out of Camden years ago, and only pop stars can afford to move back.

He's not from Finchley. He's from Muswell Hill. But I take your point. Much the same happened in Muswell Hill and Crouch End who caught the bug off Highgate.

I live in Muswell Hill. It is actually full of arty farty types who can't quite afford Highgate or Crouch End.

I would imagine they view them like we do The Krankies bib.

I saw them support someone at the old Apollo once. I can't remember who they were supporting I was so traumatised. I thought they were ****ing dire, but that's just my opinion.

The Krankies are unfunny and disturbing, Chas and Dave are talented musicians and song-writers.

For all those slagging off Snooker Loopy: I challenge you to write a better song about snooker.

I always felt the gentrification came from Muswell Hill down to Crouch End. Crouch End wasn't always like that.

You used it as part of a diatribe slagging off the cokeny mafia and their impact on popular culture - so i think retorting with Fog on the tyne was fair enough <ok>
