I do but simply to make a point. McGeady has zero assists in 5 games without Wyke. If you blame the lack of McGeady fir wyke not scoring then the other COULD also be true. Neither are. But it seems a cast iron fact that Wyke doesn’t score without McGeady based on opinions here. Yet the zero assists for McGeady is because of his fitness? Maybe Wyke isn’t match fit? That’s the point I’m trying to make. Stewart is undoubtedly a far far better footballer in every sense. But McGeady seemingly struggles to set him up like he did Wyke
Very early days. 4-5 games in of a 50-60 game season. This assessment needs to be made after 15-20 games.
Which part? I already know (as I did last season) that Stewart is a better footballer. That is blatantly obvious. The McGeady/Wyke is only a comparison I’m making because loads have already stated how Wyke hasn’t scored as he “doesn’t have McGeady” yet none say “McGeady hasn’t assisted as he doesn’t have Wyke” when, in reality, neither are true or both could be! But it’s certainly a fair assumption on both sides
It's only a footie chat forum, not Crown Court ... ... whatever's said is totally irrelevant to what actually happens at the club. It's just a load of people giving their opinions and they'll do that as they choose, not within your guidelines ... ... if people waited half the season, to pass comment on players, etc, it would be pretty quiet on here.
McGeady isn't fit. He missed most of preseason and is taking some time to get up to speed - he was the same in the first season down here - his touch was off for the first few games. Hopefully 90 mins under his belt on Sat will have helped and we see him return to the form we've come to expect
He's also a year older too. Personally i think he'd be better used as an impact sub running at tired legs after 60 minutes
Would not surprise me at all. Don't get me wrong he has the skill but as we all know, one day age catches up with you. I think i'd rather see a young lad wearing out the opposition thus giving McGeady a chance to shine
This. He shouldn’t be playing, he’s not able to train properly and he’s having injections to get through it. I’d imagine the international break and new lads settling in is exactly what he needs, so he can recover properly.
Spurs willing to pay £50m for Adama Traore... a man with such little end product. They'd genuinely be better off signing Saint Maximin from the Mags.
Its true. That said Nuno knows Traore and he stretches the game more than ASM so maybe he’s looking at creating space for Kane and Son. He is slowly improving with it as well, really slowly though
I'm surprised that no Club has come in for him this window. Last Season he rescued 'our friends' from what looked like a certain relagation, when he came back after injury.
Yes your correct. The forum is about opinions, and I was just giving mine. Good job we are not in the crown court, as you would look pretty daft right now.
Yes that’s true. But your basing your assessment on mcgeady/stewart after 4-5 games, but comparing their partnership to mcgeady/wyke who had 40-50 games. Whatever the case, let’s hope mcgeady gels with Stewart as the season goes on, and we reap the rewards of that.
Sunderland are currently signing players and it's all really exciting. I know you're not interested so, just wait here and I'll get back to you later.
Geads hasn't been the same player at all this season and it is obvious. He needs a while to rest his knees and also to regain a bit of the hunger he displayed last season so yes, this is the perfect time to do just that.
He's probably finding out that alcohol and bad food do not mix, if you need to be fit and athletic. Just look at us ancient supporters ( talking just about myself?), being a fan of Sunderland AFC, takes commitment and dedication.. our bodies are our temples. Seriously though, all these young players will have a much different attitude to diet and drinking than the older generation. The culture in the squad will change, mind Defoe understood that.
i dont know why hes getting so much stick fair enough he got off to a poor start, but last season he showed his true worth. and where would we have been without him.
I think it's just a bit of fun tbh, I don't think anyone hates the bloke. Wigan are supposed to be one of our main rivals and no one wants to see him do well. It's also that he seemed to want away from Sunderland and thinks he's worth more money ... ... without the contributions of McGeady and O'Brien he might not find things so easy this time. I doubt all of his goals, lined up end to end, would reach the length of the pitch and back. I know that's a meaningless stat but it shows how much work he had to put in compared to those who set the goals up.
