Listening to Taylor speaking to Popey, it's abundantly clear that the lad wants to leave Leeds United. There is no doubt that he is still holding out hope for a move this transfer window, so that means there is a club that's spoken to his useless agent and put a lot of wages on the table.

Monk has stated that he expects Taylor to still be at Leeds beyond the transfer window, and he backs Taylor to give his all for the team. Monk sees the lad as a key player this season, at least publicly anyway. Taylor gave his best performance so far this season at Hillsborough on Saturday, and you have to wonder if this was ignited by his agent telling him he needs to buck up his ideas.

I have no problem with Taylor's performance levels for the next two games, my concern is what he will be like after the window shuts and he hasn't got his big money move. We saw how Byram was negatively affected last season, and I'm not sure Taylor will be able to focus purely on his football after being denied the chance of banking an extra £20k per week. His Ferrari shopping will be put on hold, and he may resent this.

Leeds need to be doing everything possible to get a replacement left back in asap, and then move Taylor on in this window. Regardless of Monk's support, the whole Taylor situation will become unpredictable come 1st September, and under the new loan rules we can't bring someone in during October if Taylor begins to wilt.

Taylor's agent has behaved very badly here, and he's created an unhappy, confused player for us. What is even more annoying is that he hasn't shopped Taylor to a top club. Lewis Cook will, in time, regret moving to Bournemouth for the money, and Taylor should be working hard at Leeds to get promotion and play for us in the Prem. Then, if he's done it properly, he will have a pick of clubs.

This is a difficult situation for Leeds, and they should push for a good transfer fee and show Taylor the door. What's happened to wanting to die for the club you supposedly love? Are our top Academy prospects ever going to play for us again the way Kelly and Harte did, for example? It's clear that while we're outside the Prem clubs like West Ham, Bournemouth and West Brom will take our talent. And to think that not so long ago a Leeds player would have seen a move to any of these clubs as a step down!!!

We should buy a replacement and then let Taylor rot in the reserves till his contract runs out.
Yes cellino loses Money but sends a message to all the other mercenary twats that a contract is a contract.

I wonder if our Irish contingent know anyone who was previously skilled in the practice of kneecapping. Someone who thinks it's about time they revisited their old skillset? I can think of an agent they could practice on. :D I wouldn't even be upset if they didn't get it right first time. In fact, the more attempts the merrier.

Did I say this out loud? <doh>

I'd be even more mercenary - I'd tell him if he played his heart out, I'd see him all right in January. Then I'd let him rot in the reserves. That way, we get half a season out of him, and we get to witness him & his agent exploding with rage at the end of the January transfer window. Hope they film it - would be a best-seller. :D

I would refuse his transfer request and see if he had a change of heart come the end of the season and seeing where we are in the league. I would still look for a replacement or at least line someone up for January.

I said before I would make him a promise that he can go in January if he performs, we won't lose money on him anyway. I guess it depends what offer is on the table, anywhere near to £8m and it would be tempting, surely there is someone better out there at a quarter of that?

Taylor has youth and promise of what he might become, that is where his transfer fee escalates, not so much what he has to offer at this immediate part in time.

Sell for £12 million otherwise keep.

That is nothing in todays market for a Premier League Club. Plus we still get a fee next summer if he goes to a UK club so need to sell for less. Make sure all offers are in writing to prove his worth next summer.

let him rot and let him go when his contract runs down, we get a fee for the kid as he is an academy product and a tribunal fixes the fee to whichever team he joins. So will not lose money on him

What would you do in his shoes?
Stay at a club that ****s on all of its employees or go to a bigger better club like Fulham, Huddersfield or QPR on doible the wages playing under much better managers?

I've been saying for the whole window I'd sell him.

I don't think he's worth more than 5m personally even with inflated fees. So I'd take anything north of that and buy Rico Henry for 1.5m or whatever the quoted price was. I've only seen limited playtime of Henry but to me he looks a better player (obviously not tried and tested at champ level though but he is 3 years younger).

The problem with young players, Josh, is not so much the move up to the Championship, it's the heavy weight of that Leeds shirt. Many just don't hack it with our club because of that - but seem to do ok elsewhere after they leave. Ajose is the most recent one that springs to mind. Seems to have flourished after failing with us.

I think it's inevitable that Taylor's going to leave at some time this season, if a player wants out then he wants out. Like most, I'd like Taylor to stay and help us get promoted, but keeping a player against his will doesn't benefit the team one bit.

Personally I'd let him go and wish him well, get what we can for him, which Cellino seems to be good at and get a replacement in asp, problem is, do we have a good enough replacement already, or do we have someone other than Berardi that can play both sides untill we can bring in an experienced LB.

Unfortunately, we're in an era where players don't die for their club any more, unless you pay them astronomical wages.........:emoticon-0148-yes:

    Good post Billy.

Heavy Leeds shirt... I believe those days have gone. Rico Henry was 7 years old when we were in the second tier, he wasn't even a teenager when we dropped to the third tier. Players like Rico don't see us as a big club.

We play in a ground that is usually around 55/60% full, I just don't understand the excuse we give for the heavy shirt. I actually think we expect less than many other fans.

I mean, where do we realistically hope to finish? 6th would be amazing and just outside play off a superb effort, unlike many other clubs in this division we don't even expect promotion. We live on remembering our past and history because of our age, these youngsters just see it as a statistic on wiki

Heavy Leeds shirt, Taylor wore it well as did Cook and they want to leave us for bigger clubs like Bournemouth, you wouldn't have believed that 12 years ago.

That maybe true but there is some reason we seem to play better and get better results away from home. Maybe it's that gypsy curse thing again

That's a cyclical stat. There have been many times when away wins have been rarer occasions than you buying a round.

IMO the reason for our recent woeful home record is down to the feeble lightweight midfield we have had for four years, and tactics geared more to trying not to lose than going out to try and win. If we don't shoot we can't score, if we don't score we can't win.

McDermott started a rot that has not been eradicated as I type.
