QPR striker Charlie Austin admitted he was ‘chuffed’ to score the 100th goal of his professional career against Barnsley on Saturday QPR STRIKER Charlie Austin admitted he was ‘chuffed’ to score the 100th goal of his professional career against Barnsley on Saturday afternoon. Austin opened the scoring in the R’s victory over the Tykes with a fine close range finish, as QPR rounded off their regular season with a 3-2 win at Oakwell. “I’m chuffed to have got 100 goals in the game,” Austin - who just five years ago was a bricklayer for his Dad's firm Austin Brickworks - told www.qpr.co.uk. “I knew just before I got injured in January that I wasn’t too far away from the milestone, but I’d forgotten about it recently. “It was a well-worked goal. “Armand played a nice ball into me and it was a decent finish – and more importantly, it got us going. “It’s great to get to three figures – and now I’m there I want to push on in the play-offs.” He added: “Games like today are always quite difficult in that there was nothing really riding on it, but we were pleased with the performance and the result. “It was important to round the season off with a win for the fans and we’ve done that, so we’re all pleased.” Wigan lie in wait now for Harry Redknapp’s side in the play-offs and the R’s top-scorer is in confident mood ahead of the Friday’s first leg at the DW Stadium. “I felt I needed another run-out ahead of Friday and I feel good,” he said. “I’m scoring goals, I’m getting fitter all the time and I can’t wait for the play-offs. “Of course it’s going to be tough. Wigan are a match for anyone as they’ve proved over the last few seasons. “We’ve done well against them this year but those results against them count for nothing now. “It’s the lottery of the play-offs but we’re in confident mood. “We’re going in there unbeaten in three and scoring a lot of goals, so let’s see what happens.” He added: “We need to go there and put in a confident performance and hopefully a winning performance to ensure we get back to Loftus Road on Monday with a great chance of reaching Wembley. “The QPR fans have been fantastic all season long and we’re desperate to get promoted for them.” http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/0...100-goals-qpr-barnsley-play-offs-1525316.aspx Watch them all here..... None better, in my opinion, than his belter for us against Charlton, although there is an awesome header for Burnley in there.
Nice one Charlie! A wonderful selection of goals through his relatively short career - I certainly consider myself privileged to have been there to witness that cracker scored at the School end against Charlton on Nov 23th 2013. Hopefully Charlie has another hundred goals in him for the R's!
I am very impressed by this goal collection. I also hope that he might still add a few more this season. A Charlie hatrick would be gratefully recieved!
Has anybody else noticed that he "generally" takes penalties to the bottom right corner (as he faces the goals) I know where I would dive should I face him.
