Just seen on the paper talk section on sky sports under the sun that we are interested in Austin and could pay 6 mill for him. I don't think for a second this would happen unless QPR strengthen dramatically up front (Remy and maybe new signings) but would e a good signing. The reaction on this board would be interesting!
The way I'd see it though is if he isn't good enough/wanted by the dramas then I'd have thought he wouldn't be good enough for us. That said if he wants to leave for us, and who wouldn't, then great!
He may have a part to play but if we bid enough and he sees an opportunity to play for a club with our ambition I'd take him as they rate him very highly and he seems destined to succeed in the prem. however it is unlikely as I say
If you can read and count you'd see that I said twice it won't happen, it is just called reporting some news from today's papers.....you just sound worried (I hope.)[/QUOTE]
No thanks, I don't think he will cut it in the prem and who in their right mind would pay 6M for Charlie Austin with his injury record Remember why Hull pulled the plug on him, so far they have been proven right
I'm not massively worried, I think it's just the regular transfer window lotto that lazy journalists seem to play! As for his injury record, he stayed fit through most of the season for us. I had a bad shoulder injury that needed an op, but I think the Hull deal was scuppered because of a knee problem - there didn't seem to be any problem with his legs last year. I think (hope!) he'll do well this year. If he'd stayed fit all season for us, I think we'd have run Burnley close for second spot, as the goals really dried up when he was out, the replacements 'Arry brought in, Morrison aside, were mostly crap! Good luck next year guys... See you in the season.
No thanks. We've got Nugent as our work horse, don't see the need to go shelling out a ****tonne on wages to get Austin. I don't believe that we are after him, nor do I believe that QPR would sell him, nor do I believe that we would stretch our wage structure to get him.
From his point of view, seems like a sideways move. Not sure why he'd do it, unless he's not happy at QPR... which I could definitely believe!
I wouldnt. Ulloa would give us an aerial presence up front something none of our strikers do Austin isnt as good a footballer as David Nugent but he is a better finisher
