From the begining of the 2013-2014 season until 3 days before Christmas we played 16 Premier League games . Within that timeline we also played 11 cup games of various types . At that point we qualified for the 2nd round of Europa . We won 2 FA Cup games , including a historic win at Old trafford , to get to the 5th round . We were also on track for a 50 point tally in the Premier .That an amazing accomplishment considering we were averaging a game every 5 days. So , what did we get for Christmas . Well from Dec 22 against Everton , till Feb 1 against West Ham we played 10 games including 2 FA Cup games , at a pace of a game every 4 days. During this time frame we played 8 Premier league games , injured to the hilt , against Everton , Chelsea , Villa , Man City , Man United , Tottenham , Fulham and West Ham . Monk recieved the team from Laudrup after the West Ham game , with 7 days for the team to rest till Cardiff with injured players returning in droves .This is mostly for the fans that like to talk about the 36 points in 39 games trying to include games from the previous season . Laudrups strategy up till Dec22 , with his small squad , was nothing short of magnificent
