Following a weekend when BR has expertly rung the changes we can expect a much changed line up for the cup game at Barnsley. It would be nice to go through but I for one wont be shedding too many tears if we do go out.
However long we manage to stay in the FA Cup , it should be Moreira in goal IMO . A mix of regulars & squad players I suppose but Moreira needs to be ready in case of emergency .
I'd prefer to see Tremmel in goal. If anything happens to Vorm, injury or suspension, Tremmel will be selected ahead of Moreira.
i would expect Tremmel, Lita, Moore, Dobbie, Besson, Richards to get a run but i doubt it, usually wrong
Rodgers usually fields a mixture of regulars and second-string for Cup games. How about: Tremmel; Richards, Monk, Caulker, Taylor; Routledge, Gower, Orlandi, Dobbie, Sinclair; Lita
Morning all. How great it is to wake up and find I can use the old PC. Like catching up with months full of news. Well how about this for Barnsley: 1. If we have this guy Gylfi Sigurdsson - then why not get him in and see what he can do. 2. If we have this young Rory Donnelly - then lets get him in the action. 3. As a third, a certain Ferrie Bodde is supposedly available! 4. What happened to Situ, thought he was still at the club. He should be registered by now. Loads of talent, lets see what they can do.
Donelly`s a good idea to give him a run out. Win or lose, I`m not bothered, the last thing we need is a draw!
Anybody going to Barnsley? I'm booking official coaches as soon as I find out whether I can have Saturday off... it's my birthday on friday so hopefully they'll understand...
Yea would be good to see Sigurdsson on the bench anlong with rory donnely, along with Ferrie. Monk has to start. Rest Williams. Orlandi did ok, so give him another chance...I think Rodgers is putting him in the shop window.
No way in hell Williams would let Buck rest him, given his "consecutive appearance" record he's got going? Surely...
play whoever is suited to the way barnsley play, if brendan thinks he has a chance of resting key players then do it, the main objective for this season is survival and to bag all that lovely lolly so we can improve the squad further so we can give the cup runs more of a go next season.....
I'd like to see a strong side against Barnsley for a number of reasons. Although a tough game, it is important for squad morale to develop a winning habit. Confidence is key in football - if you take the field expecting to win and put in the work, you usually do. We do NOT want a wimpish exit as at Shrewsbury!! A good cup run will also benefit the bank account which will help offset the expense of our new January signings. Now, I'm well aware that staying in the PL will be more beneficial than anything but why not try for both? We could put out a decent side without overplaying some of the regulars but we would need a thread of experience. How about - Tremmel: Jazz, Monk, Ash (or Caulker), Bessone, Routledge, Dobbie, Sigurdsson, Orlandi, Sinclair, Lita. If we were winning I'd sub Sinclair for Dyer and play the game out with the starters. If we needed them, my other subs would be Moreira, Graham, Allen, Britton, Gower and Taylor. That side should be good enough without tiring out the regulars.
You'll be disappointed then. I can't see many first team starters getting near this game. Our players have already played a lot of games in a short period. Lita likely to start up front as he hasn't played much recently. Tremmel in goal and the rest are likely to be our reserve team. Just my view. Prem survival has to be a priority and most wouldn't disagree.
I don't think that anyone would disagree about our priority being PL survival. I do think, however, that it is possible to still put out a strongish team with back up if required. Maybe Buck will play the likes of Cotterill and Butler. I hope not as they don't have too much to play for in our terms. Maybe a shop window for them but I don't see them sweating blood for us.
