This time last week, i think its fair to say that the majority of the posts on this site were a bit on the negative side due to the lack of noise and announcements coming out of the club. However, since Friday, it has been the complete opposite with all the fans seeming to finally come together with some positivity! Personally, I think we have got to thank Scally for backing Hess to sign the new boys. Lets hope all this positivity pays off, and with potentially a few more signings in the pipeline, pre season is going to be an exciting time!
For a few seasons now the fans have been very negative towards our club and it has turned Priestfield into a morgue tbh! No matter what is said about Scally he always seems to find the cash for decent signings and we need to back Scally and Hessenthaler this season and get Priestfield rocking again and intimidating for away teams
You are right, up to a point Thom but there were plenty of silent onlookers who knew Hessy had been on holiday for 3 weeks and nothing was likely to happen until he returned. The danger now is recognising there is a risk of having too big a squad unless a few people move on. remember, 5 youngsters got pro contracts in April, we have just signed 7 more (including Martin) and there are plenty left from last season's squad. There is widespread recognition that we need another goalscorer and it would be a nice luxury to have Lee as well but that is probably it. Don't be surprised to see Oli and King invalided out early on.
Apparently kedwell sees oli as a potential strike partner so i wouldn't rule him out for this season. I expect a lot of these youngsters to end up out on loan as i really can't see them competing for places in the squad. I would love to get another striker in though and charlie lee would be a fantastic signing but our centre midfield is starting to get overcrowded, i'd like a wide player to be honest. I have to agree with the negativity being reduced and that is down to hess and scaly playing the transfer market well so fair play to them!! UTG!
maher's had loads of time..times up!!! really don't think we will see maher again, so thats one less for starters. the young pros will be sent out on loan, also due to the fact no reserve games..only as we go games and kent senior cup, so yes they will need loaning out (match time)! full credit to scally and staff though. it's not finished yet regards new players either..hessy said striker and wide player still on list!! hope lee can be added to that and made captain! will also need players like oli, king, richards,spiller, weston and s payne to stay fit for more than a couple of games..though king is now a gamble, one that i hope pays off. finally would expect maybe one or two to move on..if not after the season has started!
