More like they were lucky to win against us last time. On the other hand the away side is odds on so home or away makes no difference, it is the amount of money placed on each. Bookmakers do not care as long as they win on the outcome. What you actually see is all those who bet on the game many think Leicester. Having worked in a betting shop I can assure you those betting the fav where not collecting their winning that often.

doesn't work like that pal.....odds do change after money goes on but the bookies use a whole lot of data/stats to ensure they don't give easy pickings to us punters when the slips get printed 3 days before a game ..(they are called fixed odds for a reason)

Looks like you only see what you want to see.

Being a pedant might suit you but most on here want to discuss "football" in common footballing terms.

I think if you try to put a bet on you will often see "accept price changes" this is the data that shows profit or loss in real time and is calculated only by the amount of money on each team.I have seen a horese price drop from around 16-1 to 7-4 that is not data that is simply the money talking.

That's exactly what Turk is saying. With ante post betting, you take a chance at the time of placing whether that be good or bad - usually good.

Betting in real time includes up to the minute adjustments depending upon money placed and other circumstances.

Tell me how you can drop points you never had then, that is not about football that is about me, as most posts are. I don`t agree like the rest of you but you just want pats on the back, well what anyone else thinks has never bothered me it only matters to that person.

It's not about you at all - don't be so childish. I mentioned that we'd dropped 2 points against Plymouth which is normal football parlance when discussing games on here and everywhere else. You come back quoting me with the crass comment that you can't drop what you never had. That's just being pedantic not clever.

If you want to discuss semantics then that's up to you. Some of the content on here is tongue in cheek stuff and not black and white. Most want to discuss football and lots of other things with a laugh accepting that they can be wrong rather than always right. In your case it's obviously the other way around.

    Well said Sparks.

This guy is as disruptive as John Hughes was, if not more so.

He is incapable of discussion. There is his opinion and no one else's. And he thinks that is good. <doh>

Quality goals by Sunderland today: a screamer from Pritchard & a quality finish by Rusyn after a scintillating run from Clarke.<applause>

What a crazy league this is. A couple of defeats and we're all doom and gloom and then a win and we're talking about top 6 again..........<laugh>

Once again the results go right for us on the day. West Brom, Hull, Preston, Bristol, Middlesbrough all lose, whilst Norwich and Watford only manage a point apiece. I'm more concerned about Robbie's boys lately - Robins has got them back on track and are serious contenders.

Looks like the top 4 are away, but the last two playoff spots are achievable by 10 clubs - and make no mistake, we're one of them. I said in another post I tend to back us for set piece goals and it's come off lately, but we need to find other ways to put the ball in the net.

Without the need to go over the top, January is a huge opportunity to put that right. Bulut's aquisition tagets with reasonable backing from Tan could set us up for a good second half of the season. We must have a target though missing out on the playoffs would be no big deal as long as the quality of playing side of the club improves.

    Agree with all of this.

I think someone else said elsewhere that we have a lot to look forward to, if we can get Rambo & O'Dowda back in the coming weeks AND add a few more decent signings then who knows where we could end up???

It's easy to get wrapped up in each individual result and to only look at maybe the last 2 or 3 games, but looking at the bigger picture so far, despite some setbacks and some poor form/performances we are still clinging to the coattails of those above us that currently occupy the last couple of play-off spots. If we can achieve even a bit of continuity with a good run of results over the next 2 months then we'll absolutely be in the mix. Lots of things have to fall into place though, and whilst we talk of strengthening the squad and getting players back, there'll be plenty of others around us that will feel they are in exactly the same boat.

In short, still so much to play for and potentially to look forward to, but much patience and cool heads are required.

I took a brief look at the Wurzel board yesterday... bearing in mind they were talking of play-off pushes and giving it a good go just a week or so ago, one defeat later and many are talking about the fact that nothing changes, no consistency and a need for an entire squad overhaul/serious investment needed again!!
If ever there is a lesson for looking at the bigger picture and not taking the immediate result as being indicative of the whole season then their board is it!!

Onwards and upwards we go with a bit of luck, some shrewd signings and good health for our 'star' players...

We're nowhere near good enough to go up let alone stay up. Let's face it, Southampton, Leicester and even Hull walked all over us.

We threw away the Rooney game through poor general play and Runarsson allowing Bacuna to dance around him for their goal. Two very streaky late late shows got us 6 points points at Preston and Sheff Wed when we really didn't deserve anything. That's kept us in the mix.

There's a lot to do. Yesterday's win was against a very poor side that at least tried to play football but were undone by sloppy defending for a couple of set piece goals. That's not to say we can't get a whole lot better - that's up to Bulut, his coaching team and Tan.

To my mind I see it as follows.

With the players available to Bulut, City scrape home in the games they win but get played off the park when they lose eg Soton, Leicester, WBA, Hull and to a lesser extent Birmingham who were better then us.

The players deserve credit for the league position the club are in now in light of the incontrovertible fact many in this squad are not up to this level.

It is easy to assert that with a few new quality players the current deficiencies will be plugged and so we’ll threaten the top 6.

The aim in August was to avoid a relegation fight, and see how it goes at the halfway stage. We’ll we’ve reached that stage and relegation should be avoided, so it’s up to the club if they want to bankroll a push to the play offs or leave it to the summer to get it ready for a concerted effort next season.

One ‘signing’ they should make is a director of football regardless of what happens.

That's the road to long term success and sustainability.

I think if we went up this year, we'd fare worse than the last twice we went up.

We just need to string a few games together.

Who’d want to be a Sheff U fan this season?

I still look back on those 2 failed seasons.

The first was more a result of Tan falling out with McKay and then allowing Dalman to appoint OGS who brought with him some dud Norwegians rather than more experienced players in January. We still had a decent shout at staying up regardless but just fell apart towards the end.

The second was going quite well into the second half of the season but again a failure to buy well in January (Sala sage aside:emoticon-0101-sadsm) and an injury to Camaresso and not getting the best out of Reid plus some poor refereeing cost us dearly.

This season in the PL has proven how difficult it is for promoted teams to survive and prosper (to differing degrees) like BHA, Brentford, Wolves, Villa, Forest etc.

If we ever get back there under Tan, a huge IF, there would need to be a revolutionary change to the football side of the business.

I'd like to have been a Sheff U fan last season - who'd want to be a Cardiff fan last season?

They got there and are paying the price now like Burnley and Luton, but it's like playing on a different planet up there.

If the 3 of them come back down as looks likely, at least they got there. They'll pocket £100M+ for this season and get another 2 seasons of parachute money to get back up there - just like Leicester, Southampton and Leeds look like doing this year.

I take the point about it being better to get an internal footballing structure sorted before we can take the Prem by storm, but FFS come on!!

During this upcoming FA Cup weekend break from Championship action, let's have some views on this Championship thread.

    Question: -

Given the opportunity come the playoffs, does anyone on here not want to be promoted?
