Yeah, it's a step in the right direction....one that has had to be imposed on us (don't know enough about the new rules though. What happens if you flout them? A small fine?).

Individual results mean nothing. If it were true that it is the same in every sport, in every division of the World, how comes it's only the Premiership that we would all feel confident of predicting the top 5/6 places?
Why not take up my challenge and make your predictions?

Not satisfied with being allowed the opportunity to beat one of the big boys every now and then. I'm interested in why the Swans as a well run football club, with people in charge who make consistently good decisions and a European style of play that is unique to this league....have absolutely no chance of progressing to challenge up at the top. A fairly constituted competition would allow for this, a meritocracy where clubs can go up and down. What we have is the football equivalent of feudalism.
If you believe we can get into "the top echelons" with the way the competition is currently constituted it is you who need to get in the "real world". I base my argument on the history of the Premier League, the facts are difficult to argue with. The only clubs who have broken into the club at the top are the clubs who's billionaire owners have bought them in.

Newcastle have flirted with breaking the cycle this year, that's why Pardew is the Manager of the Season (although I would argue Brendan's achievement is greater given the relative size of the 2 clubs' budgets).
I wonder what will happen next year? Do you think Newcastle will be able to keep Cisse and the rest of their star players?

Well we've done this to death now so it's pointless regurgitating.

One thing we agree on at last: Rodgers should have got Manager of the Season. The Cisse signing (which came about because of scouting, not Pardew) is what clinched it. Pardew inherited a pretty good setup but made some astute signings. Even then he paid a lot for some of them compared to what we could afford.

When you take into account resources and style, Rodgers was the man, though I would concede that Pardew and Lambert wouldn't have been far behind.

Yes Ba was a free and an excellent signing but he did pay out quite a bit for the others if you tally them up.

pardow was the right choice. he finished higher than both brendan and lambert. the latter two blew it towards the end and are rookies. you wont find many who would disagree with the final choice. i dont think brendan or lambert were in the top 6 in the end. they done very well in their first season but to call them the best then i dont think so...maybe next season...eh..<ok>

But if you used the logic of who landed up higher, wouldn't the champions win manager of the season each year ?

Well I think you're right that most people agree with Pardew and I can see why he got it. To say Rodgers and Lambert "blew it" is wrong though. It's not just League position is it? If that's right Mancini would have easily won.

Pardew's budget is astronomical compared with Swansea and Norwich. £10M for Cisse; £5M for Cabaye; £5M for Santon and almost £6M for Ben Arfa being just a few examples.

we went on a bad 4 game loss and thats why he went from being talked as a possible contender to an also ran. lambert the same. when you look at where the toon was last season and how strong they have been this season then i can see how the selection panel came to their decision......it dont mean much just a little plaque to go on the wall....brendan and lambert must be the top two newbies though....

So now we're an 'also ran'. <doh> Concentrating on a few average results instead of the fantastic wins we've had.

No wonder you won the ****ing Victor Meldrew award. Swansea's "Number 1 fan"? Go back to ****ing Tenby.

To be fair KJ, no.1 was referring to Brendan's chances of becoming manager of the season and the run of 4 defeats may have swung it in Pardew's favour.
