So we have to wait for 2 more weeks before the draw is made, the teams we have a chance of facing are: PSG Malaga Dortmund Juventus Barca Bayern If I had to choose, it'd be PSG or Malaga, for footballing reasons, and for traveling reasons too! Would be nice to go down to Paris, or even Malaga, heard lot's of good things about Malaga ;-)
I agree PSG or Malaga would be the best draw we can hope for. Id rank them as: Malaga / PSG - both have some very good players but are both beatable Dortmund / Bayern - Both German teams look strong, i think these would be very close games like our games against Dortmund last year Juventus - Have only been beaten twice in 50 odd games and are looking to burst back onto the european stage, they have some classy players and are playing well as a team unit, it'd be a tough game. I went to see Juventus vs Arsenal at Highbury the last time the two teams met in europe and it was a quality game. I think it'd be a very exciting game but very difficult. I rank this game highly as i think they are the type of organised team we would struggle to score against. Barca - We played to our best and almost put them out, but with RVPs ridiculous red card all hope went out the window, i don' think this current team would fair well at all against Barca. From this point onwards all the games are going to be tough and it'll be a combination of hard work and luck as to how far we get. As long as we don't get Barca i think we have a decent chance of progressing, but i'd be most confident of going through agains PSG or Malaga.
PSG - Just about win Malaga - Win Dortmund - Lose Juventus - Just about win Barca - Lose Bayern - Lose I don't really have much hope for this Arsenal side in the Champions league. Individually our players aren't bad, but as a team, we are comfortably one of the worst teams in the tournament. They will need a lot of luck to progress to the next round. In my opinion we should focus on one of the other cups - FA or Carling and go all out for that.
We are outsiders, lacking in form, with a squad full of players way out of their league. Given our performaces in the CL, I would not be surprised to see us get beat by anyone of the teams on offer. I got so annoyed when I heard Wenger had said that he thought we could win it. Laughable.
What did you want him to say? If he said anything different, then he would have been slated for waving the white flag and showing that he has lost the fight, Our chances of winning it might be very small, but it's still a cup competition and football never ceases to amaze.
I think at this stage you should be praying for Malaga, if not then PSG. Anyone else and I cannot see you going through. Borussia Dortmund currently flavour of the month and all that. Also, could we hold the Europa League draw in this thread too
