    Nick on the SoS decision

Tuesday was a fantastic day for everyone associated with Bristol Rovers; not only did we secure another three points against one of the league’s top teams, we also received the news we had been waiting for from the Secretary of State’s office.

Tuesday afternoon I received confirmation that the Secretary of State that he has approved the decision to grant planning permission to Sainsbury’s for a mixed use development on our existing site.

This is great news as it moves us one step closer to making a reality of our dream for our new stadium next to the UWE Campus.

There are a couple more bridges to cross; the section 106 legal agreement which we are hopeful Bristol City Council and Sainsbury's will sign in the next few weeks and then the 3 month statutory Judicial Review period will start. But we are currently on course to start work in the summer.

There has been a lot of hard work on this behind the scenes, and it feels great to be able to move on to the next stage with the knowledge there is not going to be a delay for an enquiry for the Secretary of State.

We are working towards having a new stadium by 2015, and this decision is great news for everyone concerned.

On top of that, we saw another fantastic performance from the lads out on the pitch last night. Games have been coming thick and fast in recent weeks, but the players dug in deep and showed resilience and commitment to claim the win against one of the league’s high flyers.

The game reminded me a lot of our win against Exeter – another top team – as we defended well, limited the opposition in front of goal, and took our chances excellently. It was also good to see the introduction of a couple of our youngsters as the game drew to a close.

There is a fantastic spirit around the club at the moment, which encompasses everyone; the players, the supporters, the board, the staff and the management. We have been through some difficult times lately, but it is great to have this feeling of optimism and togetherness back at our club.

We hope that you will all be able to take advantage of our March Madness ticket offer this weekend when we take on Rochdale at the Memorial Stadium. With so many games in such a short space of time we have slashed admission prices across the ground, to try and help you with the cost of a game.

And with such attractive football currently on offer, it seems like a win-win situation to me! Once again thank you for your continued support, you really do make all the difference. Lets pack the stadium and give the team the support it deserves.

Just goes to show that the Rovers'Board are at the top of their game when it comes to running the business side of the Club. I just hope they enable the playing section of the management team to carry on with the business of getting our Club's sporting position back to where we need to be and hopefully beyond..

for a long time i think most rovers fans were upset on how poor the communication was from the board. looks at what happened though, regular feedback each week from higgs, the OS site forum is read by officials and usually if there is an incident there is usually a quick comment by an official to clear up the issue. the fans director is representing the fans well as well and to be honest i think the communication from the club is the best its every been. what a turn around <ok>
