I agree that it still applies. The GB don't have the nous or clout to speak on my behalf, or yours.

Sorry again Rebel - I am, obviously, well out of touch! I had better butt out of this - at least until I catch up! I know absolutely nothing about them! (Time for more tapas and a cold beer anyway!)

They are not a particularly visible presence in the way that the GB are. Certainl more representative of a cross section of the support as opposed to the 20 something demographic of the GB.

Anyone who insists on singing 'Ooh ahh up the ra' despite innumerable requests from the club and the manager to desist and in the current climate where these type of chants will be under scrutiny by the press/police/SFA etc etc is doing nothing but damage to our club. It's pure childish selfishness on their parts to continue to do so.

Whether you like it or not the club has to come first and it's becoming increasingly clear that these types of chants will not be tolerated. Continuing to make these chants will result in the club being punished.

That's what I said you plagarising barsteward. Albeit in cleverer and fancier words, but I know you are just some poor schmo frae the slums of Stirling, near that furniture place.

Thanks Dev - I'm not a fan of these FB type pages - I find it difficult to make much sense out of a lot of the posts but I absolutely loved the Thai kids singing Just can't get enough - magical! :)

You almost hit the nail on the head when you said Pedro Mendes was the source of bigotry, that part is right. What this forum needs is no Pedro Mendes, is contribution to this post is to call Phil "a f ****er" or something intelligent of that nature.

I think we should all move into the 21st century. 99% of the people of Republic of Ireland, 99% of the people of the North of Ireland and 99% of the people of the UK recognise the IRA. In fact well known leaders of the IRA form part of the Cabinet and Government of the North of Ireland. These IRA leaders are welcome in Westminster and by the Government of Scotland.
DUP which is the leading Unionist Party in the North of Ireland are very happy to be seen laughing and sharing jokes with these leading IRA men who they share the Government of the North of Ireland with.
Why can songs and lyrics about IRA people who , some were involved in freedom fighting over 100 years ago, other more recently but all have given up their arms struggle and decommissioned their armoury years ago. These songs and lyrics like the IRA cause no threat to anyone and if ignored would disappear with other Irish folk lore. Up the Ra is chanted and song throughout the world, where ever Irish people meet, only those who want to feel annoyed are annoyed.

What have the IRA got to do with Celtic football club? What's the connection?

In as few words as possible.

You could put that question to 99% of clubs. What has Rangers got to do with the British Army? What has Man City got to do with Blue Moons? What has Liverpool got to do with walking alone? Don't get me wrong I disagree with singing IRA songs at the football but the point you made is not a good basis for your argument I don't think.

Come off it Dev - don't you think that's a bit of an irrelevant question? I'd be very surprised if you didn't know very well that it's nothing to do with any direct connection - it comes with the huge passionate Irish Celtic support many of whom will have seen the conflict in Northern Ireland as a fight for freedoms denied them for many years and now recalled in song and folklore. The songs are sung anywhere there is a gathering of like minds - it is the same the world over. Even I know that and I'm far removed from it!
