Which CB pairing do you think DA will decide on?

  2. O'Shea and Coates

  3. Kaboul and Coates

As much as I'd like to see a (fit) Kaboul and Coates playing at CB for us, I can't see DA dropping O'Shea.
Who do you guys think is going to partner him? Surely Kaboul hasn't moved from one bench to another?
Hope DA sticks with the 2 that he plays against Leicester and isn't rotating every week to keep everyone happy. Praying that Wes is going to get very limited game time!
Personally think he will play Kaboul with JOS.

I think I agree and can't see Dick dropping O'Shea, and I don't think that he deserves dropping either to be honest.

I hope that he sticks with the centre back pairing that did well at the back end of last season, O'Shea and Coates, forcing the others to try and break into the team.

So far as what I think Dick will do, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him go with the established partnership of O'Shea and Brown, though I'm hoping that Brown is only seen as back up now and one of the other two partners O'Shea

Think it'll be O'Shea and Kaboul to begin with and hopefully O'Shea is fazed out of the side as the season progresses.

Didn't include Brown in the poll because I can't see Brown starting ahead of Coates due to Coates starting ahead of him at the end of last season.

Where will Mathews play ? PVA is my first choice defender on the left, so Coates and Mathews and Kaboul.
    -------------------------Pants----------------------------
    Kaboul---------Mathews------coates--------PVA
    ------------------------Catts------------------------------
    Johnson--------------Lens---------------Gecci----
    -------------new striker----------Defoe----------------
Subs Whickam, Mannone, Brown, O Shea, Larsson plus 2 more
when Mathews or PVA go on a run and they will, Catts covers their place.

O'Shea and Kaboul for me. I'd use Coates as 1st choice replacement and Brown next.

Of course, during the season there'll be loss of form and players having good spells so it'll change frequently but I'd start with that. Quite high hopes for YK actually. Spurs guest on the Wise Men Say podcast said he was threatening the 'world class bracket' during his better spell at Spurs. Dunno what he'd been smoking

Interesting that Kaboul and Coates is the most popular. Is that what people want?Or what people think DA will choose?

Haha well I personally think it's really unlikely he will drop O'Shea so I was just checking!

I dont get the impression dick is a man of sentiment. He aint ganna pick O'Shea just because he is captain and he aint ganna pick Coates just because he had a good run in at the end of the season. I think he will pick based upon the training ground and the fact Coates is behind on fitness suggests to me he be the one to drop to the bench (although i would prefer him and Kaboul).

He should and will go with O'Shea and Kaboul in my view. Any slippage whatsoever from either and Coates will be in. Injuries aside, O'Shea is effectively on probation. I'm not O'Shea's biggest fan, but he has been the only CB who's been able to provide 6.5/10 week in and week out. Yes, it's mediocre, but it's sadly the best we've had. The day we have two reliable 7/10s, or if he slips to a 6/10, then he's on the bench.

Again I say: unless Kaboul is 100% fit with no issues, then we need another CB this window.

Btw - does anyone know if Beadling is any good? I haven't had a chance to see him in action other than the Toronto game. I really have nothing to go on. Would he have any chance of overtaking Brown as our 4th choice this season? Can he fill in at RB or LB?

Beading looked steady last night and put one crunching tackle in. Was hard to tell as by the time he came on Donny couldn't get the ball.

Kaboul again wasn't stretched really but just looks immense. A man mountain.
